Job Description

EMAP Compliance is responsible for delivering Experian’s Compliance Management Programme across a diverse and dynamic group of markets throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific (APAC).

EMAP has ambitious plans for growth, which requires EMAP Compliance to operate with maximum efficiency, agility and rigour. We have identified several opportunities to transform some of our most important operational activities, and the brand-new role of Compliance Operations Manager will play a key role in this transformation, while also providing high-quality, day-to-day compliance and regulatory advice to colleagues in Bulgaria and beyond.

As part of the EMAP Compliance Leadership Team, you’ll work closely with local, regional and global colleagues to help us develop a best-in-class Compliance team and play an important part in delivering EMAP’s strategy.

The Compliance Operations Manager will play an important role for Experian in Bulgaria, acting as our local Data Protection Officer (DPO) and advising colleagues on their obligations under GDPR and relevant internal policies. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated, experienced Compliance professional with a track record of change delivery.

Your key day-to-day responsibilities in Bulgaria will include:

  • Identifying and addressing risks of non-compliance with regulation and/or Experian policies that may arise from product or business change initiatives relevant to the Bulgaria market;
  • Advising colleagues on the management of compliance and regulatory risks arising from our relationships with third-party suppliers, clients, agents and resellers; and
  • Engaging with the Commission for Personal Data Protection, as DPO for the market.

However, a critical part of the Compliance Operations Manager’s role will be to lead a number of regional projects across EMAP Compliance more widely. Our most significant project is to deliver the configuration, implementation and adoption of a digital data privacy platform, currently deployed in South Africa, across EMAP region more widely (beginning with three individual markets). Specific responsibilities associated with this project will include:

  • Scoping, establishing and delivering a plan to deliver the platform to the chosen markets;
  • Working closely with the platform supplier to enlist appropriate technical support for the project, monitor their performance vs SLA and resolve issues or delays where they arise;
  • Consulting both business stakeholders (‘1st Line of Defence’) and Compliance colleagues in relevant markets to understand their specific requirements for the platform and tailor its configuration;
  • Developing and delivering training to local users of the platform and supporting its adoption;
  • Preparing and delivering regular project status updates to relevant colleagues in the 1st Line of Defence and senior Regional and Global Compliance leadership;
  • Partnering with key stakeholders in both the 1st and 2nd Lines of Defence (e.g., IT, Data Office, Risk and Legal colleagues) to ensure risks to successful project delivery and/or successful adoption of the platform are identified, assessed and mitigated.

In addition, the Compliance Operations Manager will:

  • Develop, implement and manage a process for producing Compliance reporting in selected EMAP markets, for both a local leadership and EMAP Compliance audience;
  • Identify and implement better methods of communication and collaboration between EMAP Compliance team members, e.g. to improve knowledge sharing;
  • Support the Head of Compliance, EMAP to coordinate and complete requests for input, feedback and information received from Global Compliance and other relevant functions e.g. HR and Finance.

Qualifications

What we expect you to bring:

  • Significant managerial-level experience of working in a large, regulated, multinational organisation, preferably in the Financial Services sector
  • Recent experience of working within a Compliance or Risk function in an advisory, assurance or oversight role
  • Demonstrable knowledge of GDPR and experience of providing advice on Data Protection/Privacy matters. Note that a formal qualification or certification in this field is not required, but the successful candidate will be required to pursue a certification and support for this will be provided.
  • A demonstrable track record of planning, leading and delivering projects across multiple business units, preferably projects with a significant digital or technology element
  • Experience of developing and delivering high-quality reporting (such as project or committee reporting) designed for a senior leadership audience

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a multinational role (e.g. within a Regional or Global team covering multiple geographies)
  • Experience of managing supplier relationships, preferably with suppliers of digital, technology or compliance solutions
