Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Manager to join our growing finance team during an exciting stage of transformation and growth. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this role offers the opportunity to work hands-on in a dynamic, well-financed medical device company at the forefront of cutting-edge technology. You will play a critical role in building robust financial systems and processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and driving compliance with US GAAP. This is a unique chance to contribute to the foundation of a high-growth, newly commercialized organization and gain exposure to a broad range of accounting and financial responsibilities.
Responsibilities, Skills, & Hands-On Experience:
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
    • This includes preparing and posting journal entries, performing balance sheet account reconciliations, and analyzing financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows, in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and classified.
  • Track and accrue costs related to clinical trials, ensuring accurate and timely recognition of expenses.
  • Oversee the consolidation accounting with the foreign subsidiary.
  • Manage the company's fixed asset ledger, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, and calculating monthly depreciation.
  • Assist in the accounting for stock-based compensation, including tracking stock options and calculating expense under ASC 718.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive audit workpapers and supporting documentation in a clear and organized manner.
  • Serve as an important point of contact for external auditors during the annual audit, providing them with necessary information and addressing their inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Play a key role in implementing and improving accounting systems and processes as the company grows.
  • Assist in developing and implementing internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Support the VP of Finance with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. This includes preparing reports for internal management and external stakeholders.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Take on other duties and special projects as needed to support the company's evolving needs.
Education & Work Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in MedTech or life sciences with commercialization and manufacturing.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and experience with AICPA audit preparation.
  • Experience with stock-based compensation, clinical trial accounting and fixed asset management is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in accounting and equity systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Carta) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in an evolving startup environment and manage multiple priorities.
Our salary ranges are calculated by role, level, and location. Please note that your position within that range will be determined by your job-related knowledge, location, skills, experience, relevant education, and training/certifications. The base salary range for this full-time position is between $130,000 to $155,000 + equity + benefits.
