The Commission Analyst is responsible for accurately processing, auditing, and reporting commission payments for the firm’s insurance operations. This role ensures that all commission transactions are handled in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements. The Commission Specialist collaborates with internal departments and external partners to resolve discrepancies, answer commission-related inquiries, and support the overall business operations within the commercial, private risk management, and employee benefits segments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Calculate, track, and process commission payments in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Audit commission statements and payments to ensure compliance with contracts, regulatory standards, and internal controls.

  • Reconcile discrepancies in commission data, collaborating with internal teams (e.g., sales, accounting, HR) and external partners as necessary.

  • Generate and distribute regular commission reports to management and relevant stakeholders.

  • Respond to inquiries regarding commission structures, payment timelines, and specific transactions.

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes by preparing commission-related schedules and reports.

  • Maintain and enhance documentation related to commission processes, procedures, and controls.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support initiatives to automate or streamline commission workflows.

  • Ensure all activities align with company values and legal requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of business segment objectives.

MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISORY SCOPE:

  • This position does not directly manage others, but may informally mentor or train colleagues as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • 2+ years of experience in a similar commission, accounting, or payroll processing role.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other standard office software.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

  • Experience in the insurance brokerage industry.

  • Familiarity with commission processing systems or relevant insurance administration software.

  • Knowledge of commercial, private risk management, or employee benefits insurance products.
