MSI has identified the Real-Estate-Investor (REI) Business Segment as an attractive growth opportunity, capitalizing upon MSI existing market-leading position in this space. The target customer for this business is the owner of single-family rental dwellings, whether that is just one property or one thousand. MSI’s unique technology and product capabilities result in significant competitive advantages that deliver a unique value proposition to these customers. The REI Business Segment Leader will manage and oversee all aspects of MSI’s REI business including product development, pricing, underwriting, risk management, revenue, marketing, and capacity. This individual will report directly into the President, Personal Lines and be responsible for developing MSI’s go to market strategy for REI business, working along-side the Personal Lines Distribution, Product, and Underwriting teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead MSI REI Insurance Business, growing the existing programs to a long-term goal of $200M+ in force premium
- Lead development of reinsurance narrative, underwriting guidelines, product rules, rates, and forms. Be the face of the program to external capacity providers, third party partners + vendors and internal constituents
- Develop distribution and go-to-market strategy, gleaning insights from competitors in the space.
- As an individual contributor leader, partner cross functionally to gain alignment, ensure appropriate focus and resourcing, while providing ongoing mentorship to underwriters and product managers to manage day to day operations
- Own relationships with third party program providers and maintain profitability of those books
- Constantly monitor REI portfolio, partnering with product and actuarial teams to develop KPI’s and track program parameters. Ensure constant learning from all available claims, litigation, and other data sources
- Lead innovation. Bring unique coverages and differentiators to win against competitors
- Develop and leverage agent relationships to drive revenue growth in partnership with Distribution Leadership. Partner with marketing to ensure messaging and approach are amplified externally
- As a leader at MSI, set a behavioral example for building relationships with MSI cross functional teams, creating alignment and championing both successes and areas of opportunity
Experience
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in REI Insurance
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in REI Insurance as a product manager/developer or lead underwriter at a Carrier or MGA/MGU
- Experience in the single-family-residential real estate sector
- Experience building REI Programs and obtaining reinsurance capacity preferred
- Experience with US REI is required
- MBA is preferred
