Job Title: Director of Events
Reports to: Managing Partners & General Manager
Position Overview
The Director of Events is responsible for leading Tavern on the Green’s event business, from sales and client
relations to planning and flawless execution. This role requires a balance of creativity, financial acumen, leadership,
and operational expertise. The Director will cultivate client relationships, drive revenue growth, and ensure that
every event reflects Tavern on the Green’s high standards of hospitality and service.
Key Responsibilities
• Business Development & Sales
o Generate, pursue, and close new business opportunities while maximizing profitability.
o Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients, ensuring repeat business and long-term loyalty.
o Develop and implement sales strategies, outreach initiatives, and marketing efforts to target new
market segments.
• Event Planning & Execution
o Oversee the entire event lifecycle—from inquiry and proposal to contract, planning, and final
execution.
o Review and approve contracts, BEOs, floor plans, and final client payments.
o Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to create menus and pricing that align with
client needs and business goals.
o Lead weekly production meetings with cross-functional teams (culinary, operations, service,
accounting).
o Maintain onsite presence at events to ensure seamless delivery and client satisfaction.
• Leadership & Team Management
o Lead, mentor, and develop the Events team, fostering strong sales and service skills.
o Set clear goals and expectations for team members, managing performance and accountability.
o Establish and enforce best practices for event profitability, staffing, vendor use, menu presentation,
and floor plan design.
• Client Experience & Quality Control
o Serve as the primary point of contact for high-profile clients and VIP events.
o Handle event-related concerns or complaints promptly and effectively.
o Ensure every event reflects Tavern on the Green’s brand, service standards, and attention to detail.
• Networking & Representation
o Represent Tavern on the Green at industry events, tastings, and networking opportunities.
o Cultivate partnerships with vendors, suppliers, and the broader hospitality community.
Qualifications
• 7+ years of progressive experience in event sales, planning, and execution, preferably in high-volume or
luxury hospitality.
• Proven track record of driving revenue and achieving sales goals.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing and motivating teams.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and contract review.
• Advanced experience in TripleSeat.
Schedule
• Full-time, salaried role (OT Exempt), 50-hour workweek
• Must be available for evening shifts, weekends, and holidays based on business needs and events
Salary
• $110,000/year plus commission on booked and executed events
