About Us
Honest to Goodness (HTG) is a hospitality group founded in 2013 with seven restaurants across the American South — Charleston, Atlanta, and Nashville. Our 200+ employees bring to life concepts including Butcher & Bee, The Daily, Redheaded Stranger, and Fancy Pants across these cities. What unites the various concepts are our company values:

  • Include and empower people
  • Foster connection through food
  • Focus on and honor the smallest details
  • Make a real impact

We believe in treating our team and guests with respect, integrity and humility. Our work has been recognized nationally for both community impact and sustained excellence.

The Role
The HR Director at HTG Hospitality is both a strategic leader and a hands-on partner. This role balances two equally important areas of responsibility:

  • Compliance & Benefits — ensuring HR processes, policies, and benefit programs are compliant, equitable, and accessible.
  • People & Culture — nurturing a workplace rooted in respect, growth, and hospitality.

HR at the “corporate” level currently consists of this Director role with part-time administrative support. The HR department is not an island though, as it works alongside four collaborative team members at HTG’s Management Company. Together, they provide a range of services to the restaurants across Administration, Finance, Compliance and HR. At the restaurant level, HR tasks are also shared with individual restaurant managers, Operations Directors, and Managing Partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all HR functions, including compliance, employee relations, benefits, recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Serve as a resource to restaurant managers and operations leaders, equipping them to handle day-to-day HR questions and employee concerns.
  • Lead open enrollment and manage benefit programs (health, retirement, PTO, leave administration).
  • Partner with leadership to foster a values-driven, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, SOPs, and training programs that ensure compliance and support team growth.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.
  • Partner with ownership on strategic initiatives, workforce planning, and culture-building projects.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to staff at all levels.

Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in hospitality or related industry.
  • Familiarity with independent restaurant operations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in compliance, benefits management, and employee relations.
  • Proven ability to navigate sensitive conversations with empathy and discretion.
  • Strong organizational and process-improvement skills.
  • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification is a plus.
