A West Elsdon neighborhood staple since 2007, Solazo (sister concept to Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient La Josie in the West Loop) re-opened in October 2021 with it's first ever cocktail program, refreshed menu and outdoor patio seating. The updated menu introduces new modern flavors that pay tribute to owner Pepe Barajas’ childhood in Mexico and his family’s puestos de tacos (taco stands). Pepe Barajas and his talented team bring creative and thoughtful dishes influenced by all regions of Mexico alongside some of his family recipes from their home state (and tequila's birthplace), Jalisco, Mexico. Solazo takes pride in its extensive agave program, which features Raicilla and other agave spirits.
We are excited to offer the opportunity to add a lead server/supervisor to our Solazo team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, hands-on professional, eager to learn with previous experience serving in the restaurant industry. The ideal candidate should be able to comfortably oversee foh/ floor operations and should actively strive to improve the details. The ideal candidate must be able to work well independently, work well with our team, and above all, be passionate about facilitating unforgettable guest experiences.Requirements

- Familiarity with Mexican cuisine and agave, and/or a willingness to learn more
- 2 yrs server experience
- Experience in a fast paced upscale restaurant
Essential duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains a cheerful, courteous disposition and a clean, professional image
- Serve and supervise for scheduled shifts
- Responds to guest inquiries and provides assistance
- Oversees organization and efficiency in the dining room
- Keeps up with knowledge of food and drink menu items
- Supervises staff in terms of opening procedures, guest service, and closing procedures
- Reports and contacts maintenance contractors
- Enhances and strengthens guest relationships, both established and new
- Resolves guest complaints in a polite, friendly manner and follows up when necessary
- Reports all escalated situations to F.O.H manager
- Promotes cooperative efforts, team spirit, and morale among employees
- Works collaboratively with the F.O.H. manager, office manager, head bartender, chefs, and floor supervisors to drive the restaurant’s success
- Has a strong understanding of company background, core values, and philosophy
- Must be able to communicate and handle potential allergens (peanuts eggs, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish)
- Manage nightly cash handling/service staff close-out procedures
- Reinforce company policies, being the supervisor on disciplinary actions and monitoring staff performance
- A "lead by example" approach to maintaining points of service standards
- Maintain proper department of health conditions in all areas of the restaurant, cultivating good habits among the staff
- Has a strong understanding of the restaurant ambiance and works on curating the vibe of the restaurant.
- Performs daily E.O.D. report detailing all important information
Minimum Qualifications
- Servsafe certifications (Food service manager, Basset, Allergens, Sexual harrasement)
- Ability to handle stress under pressure
- Willingness to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with Seven shifts, Resy and Toast is preferred
Physical Demands and Work Enviorment
- Ability to be flexible and open-minded about job demands
- Ability to move or handle equipment throughout the restaurant (generally between 0-50 lbs.)
- Ability to work varied schedules, as business dictates
- Ability to stand for 8-10 hours a day
