As a Sr. Solutions Architect at Databricks within the Field Engineering organization, you will partner with Sell-Through customers in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) to design and implement scalable data architectures leveraging Databricks technology and services, while also enabling our sell-through partners to effectively market, sell, and deliver products and services to defense sector clients. Combining deep technical expertise with strong business acumen, you will drive complex technology discussions that convey the value of the Databricks platform throughout the sales lifecycle and develop go-to-market strategies through partner channels. Working closely with go-to-market teams you will engage with customers’ technical leads—including architects, engineers, and operations teams—with the goal of becoming a trusted advisor who achieves tangible outcomes. In collaboration with teams across Databricks and executive leadership, you will represent customer needs, build valuable engagements, and report to the Field Engineering Manager, requiring a thorough understanding of defense industry requirements, strong technical skills, and proven experience in partner channel strategy execution.

The impact you will have:

  • Collaborate with sales, product management, and engineering teams to understand product capabilities and identify market opportunities within the Defense Industrial Base.
  • Develop and articulate comprehensive technical solutions and architectures tailored for sell-through partners, ensuring alignment with their capabilities and the needs of defense clients.
  • Create detailed technical documentation, including solution briefs, architectural diagrams, and implementation guides for partner enablement.
  • Provide technical training and support to sell-through partners on our products, solutions, and best practices for engaging defense customers.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for defense-specific technical requirements and compliance standards.
  • Work closely with partners to help them integrate our solutions into their offerings and achieve successful deployments.
  • Participate in pre-sales activities with partners, including presentations, demonstrations, and technical discussions with prospective defense clients.
  • Gather feedback from partners and clients to inform product development and enhance solution offerings.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies within the Defense Industrial Base.

What we look for:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a solutions architect, technical sales, or similar role, with a strong focus on the defense industrial base.
  • Experience designing and architecting distributed data systems
  • Comfortable programming in, and debugging, at least one of: Python, Scala, Java, SQL, or R
  • Proven experience working with sell-through partners and developing partner enablement programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing complex technical solutions for government or defense clients.
  • Familiarity with defense contracting, procurement processes, and relevant regulatory compliance (e.g., DFARS, ITAR, CMMC).
  • Experience with various defense technologies, such as cybersecurity, C4ISR, aerospace, or mission-critical systems.
  • Data Engineering technologies (Ex: Spark, Hadoop, Kafka)
  • Data Warehousing (Ex: SQL, OLTP/OLAP/DSS)
  • [Desired] Degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research)
  • Travel to customers in your region up to 30% of the time.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field

Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents the expected salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks anticipates utilizing the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
