🚀 About Fig

Fig is building a digital food-as-medicine platform to help anyone with complex dietary needs live an easier, healthier life around food. We’re an early-stage startup backed by Sequoia, Artis Ventures, Goodwater Capital, and Correlation Ventures — already helping over 1,000,000+ users find food that fits their needs.

Our app helps people with dietary restrictions — from food allergies to chronic conditions — navigate grocery stores and restaurants. Users love us (4.7 stars in the app stores), and our impact is real:

“THANK YOU!! It is sometimes such a struggle to find PCOS-compliant snacks, ingredients, etc. This app has truly changed my life in the 2 weeks I’ve had it!”

We’re looking for a Staff Data Engineer to help us build the foundational data infrastructure that powers everything from our recommendation engine to user insights and operational reporting.

🛠 What You'll Do

As a Staff Data Engineer at Fig, you will build and help lead our data & analytics solution:

Business Intelligence & Analytics

  • Design and build our unified data warehouse architecture in Snowflake — creating a single source of truth across marketing, product, and revenue data
  • Build attribution models connecting marketing spend (Meta, TikTok, Google, Apple Search Ads) to trials, conversions, and LTV
  • Create user journey analytics from first touch through subscription, enabling optimization across web and app
  • Develop segmentation infrastructure to power cohort analysis and targeted marketing
  • Build self-service dashboards in Hex for marketing, product, and executive teams
  • Data Platform & Pipelines

  • Architect and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines ingesting data from Amplitude, Segment, Singular, Branch, RevenueCat, and web analytics
  • Evolve our dbt models for data transformation, testing, and documentation
  • Implement data quality frameworks with monitoring, alerting, and observability
  • Establish data governance, privacy, and compliance best practices
  • Technical Leadership

  • Partner with the Head of Data on architectural decisions and long-term platform strategy
  • Evaluate and recommend analytics tooling to streamline data collection and reduce engineering overhead
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, marketing, and growth to enable data-informed decision-making
  • Contribute to building an analytics-first company culture
  • 🧠 Who You Are

  • 10+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or similar role
  • Expert SQL and Python skills, with deep experience in modern ELT tools (dbt, Airbyte, Hex)
  • Strong experience with Snowflake
  • Proven track record building analytics/BI platforms — attribution models, LTV calculations, cohort analysis, marketing analytics
  • Experience with product and marketing analytics stacks — familiarity with tools like Amplitude, Segment, Singular, Branch, RevenueCat
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, dimensional modeling, and warehouse design patterns
  • Ownership mindset — you take initiatives from concept to production with minimal direction
  • Strong communication skills — able to translate business requirements into technical solutions and explain data to non-technical stakeholders
  • Detail-obsessed and quality-driven — our users rely on trustworthy data
  • Bonus if you have:

  • Experience building marketing attribution and LTV models for consumer subscription apps
  • Experience with BI/visualization tools (Hex, Looker, Metabase, Tableau)
  • Experience at a fast-growing startup working within a small, high-impact team
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools (Prefect, Airflow, Dagster)
  • A personal connection to dietary restrictions (your own or someone close to you) — understanding this user pain is a big plus
  • 🧬 How We Work

Fig is a fully remote team, primarily operating on US Eastern hours. Most meetings take place between 12–5 PM EST. We’re collaborative, async-friendly, and driven by impact. You’ll be part of our engineering sprint process and regularly involved in planning, retros, and code reviews.
