Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Statutory and Taxation Financial Analyst to join our Statutory and Taxation Reporting (STAR) team for APAC and EMEA, reporting to the Statutory and Taxation Reporting (STAR) Manager – APAC and EMEA, based in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. The primary objective of this role is to support the respective market Financial Controllers to ensure all entities within APAC and EMEA markets are compliant from a statutory, tax and reporting perspective within the specified deadlines and managing external audit and tax relationships. The incumbent must sustain a strong relationship with the Senior Leadership Stakeholders, Finance community and other parts of the Regional and Global business.

The Statutory & Tax Reporting (STAR) is covering EMEA’s statutory reporting, therefore it is critical for this team to be able to collaborate with the existing Controllers and functions that perform the tasks, as the work transitions into the KL STAR. The STAR will work closely with the Regional and market Controllership teams who are the operational focal point for many of the region’s key statutory compliances such as controls over journals, balance sheet reconciliations and review mechanisms. In addition, this STAR will be required to work with the other support functions across GFS and markets to complete the statutory and tax reporting requirements of the region(s).

It is an exciting opportunity to be among the first in Experian to work on the opportunity for standardisation and enhanced operating model for a critical function in statutory reporting. Therefore, GAAP and IFRS skills are critical, in addition to understanding how to work with our auditors through detailed planning, execution and collaboration across many teams for a successful timely closure of all statutory and tax reporting.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Deliver accurate financial reporting to meet deadlines while maintaining compliance to accounting policies
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and tax filings and reporting deadlines for all entities and countries within the markets the STAR supports.
  • Ensure efficient and effective completion of external statutory audits, tax filings, and submission to authorities within deadlines.
  • Apply sound judgment and provide recommendations to mitigate risks to support financial targets
  • Explain and execute the accounting standards, delegated authority matrix, and Experian policies and assess control risk as necessary.
  • Identify process standardisation and optimisation of reporting opportunities and deliver ways to simplify the finance processes to create informative, value-adding outputs
  • Work seamlessly with colleagues within or across functions and markets, supporting each other to meet business requirements
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Continually identify process and reporting improvements that improve the quality of deliverables in the Statutory & Tax Reporting (STAR) function

Qualifications

More about you:

  • The role is high-profile with frequent exposure to external audit and tax authorities and senior management
  • Minimum of 4+ years’ relevant experience in audit and controllership
  • CA/CPA/CIMA/ACCA/ICAEW qualification or equivalent is an added advantage
  • Experience in financial reporting for a complete entity, accounting standards interpretation, local tax regulations and managing external audit and tax.
  • Good knowledge of Oracle OBIEE would be of an advantage
  • Knowledge of and experience using financial reporting systems (such as Hyperion Smartview), Tableau and Mint would be preferred

Why this role is critical?

  • Gain an unique insight of the APAC and EMEA statutory financial results
  • Liaise with other functional areas such as Finance, Sales, Delivery, Marketing and HR.
  • Have the opportunity to develop a strong network of contacts across the entire business.
