Job Description

We are seeking for an experienced and visionary Director of Software Engineering to lead and grow our dynamic software development team within our Credit & Verification Services Business. This is a hybrid role requiring travelling to Hyderabad office 4-8 times per month.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical background, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality software products. As the Domain Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of software development, from conception to deployment, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.

This is an incredibly exciting time for the Experian UKI Region, we are building our presence in the UK and Hyderabad and working on a technology transformation to meet our aspiration to scale our business over the next five years. Credit and Verification Services currently comprises nearly 100 engineering teams who deliver over 200 products achieving half of the revenue for our UK Business. The Domian:

As the Domain Engineering Leader of the Collections Domain, you will be a leading an engineering team working on the development of product offerings that combine Experian’s wealth of data with the latest technologies to develop world class Collections and Tracing solutions that support a wide range of clients across various industry sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Guide, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers, including hiring, training, and performance management.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
    • Manage your teams growth and performance by setting clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback and conducting performance reviews.
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects
    • Manage resource allocation, mitigating risks and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Define and deliver against the software engineering strategy in alignment with the company’s overall business objectives.
    • Collaborate with senior management and other areas to align software development projects and initiatives.
    • Identify and implement best practices, tools, and technologies to enhance the software development lifecycle.
  • Technical Oversight:
    • Working in an agile environment to provide technical guidance and direction, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
    • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating relevant advancements into the company’s technology stack.
    • Collaborate with product leaders to define solutions that deliver client value.
    • Ensure rigorous testing and quality assurance processes are in place to deliver reliable and scalable software solutions.
  • Operational Excellence: Develop and maintain metrics to measure the performance and productivity of the software engineering team.
    • Optimize development processes to improve efficiency, quality, and speed of delivery.
    • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and data protection standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5 years in a team lead role.
  • Proven experience managing and scaling engineering teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development and architecture.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex software projects on time and within budget.
  • Proficient in Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and modern development frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrable ability to work with teams from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to pick up new skills and proprietary code

Required Technical Skills/Knowledge:

  • 10+ years coding experience – ideally .Net / C++
  • Database experience and knowledge – ideally DB2 / Cloud based technologies
  • Serverless development and deployment
  • Knowledge of AWS infrastructures
  • Strong understanding of application security principles in web applications
