Infinite Machine is looking for an AI Intern to opportunistically infuse AI across the entire company—product, design, manufacturing, warehousing, software, finance, and legal—while also helping build thoughtful, user-facing AI software.
This is not a research role and not a “prompt-only” role. You think less like a single driver writing every line, and more like a train conductor: coordinating tools, workflows, and safeguards so AI accelerates real systems without breaking them.
What You’ll Do
-
Apply AI to augment and unblock workflows across the company:
Product development and specifications
Industrial design, documentation, and reviews
Manufacturing, QA, and supplier coordination
Warehousing, logistics, and inventory operations
Software development and internal tooling
Finance, legal, and operations
Use tools like Claude Code, LLM-based agents, IDE copilots, scripting tools, and workflow automations safely and effectively.
Build lightweight internal tools (scripts, agents, dashboards, automations).
Contribute to user-facing software where AI meaningfully improves speed, clarity, or UX.
-
Apply AI to hardware and embedded systems workflows, including:
Assisting with firmware development and debugging
Generating and reviewing embedded code
Interfacing with hardware APIs, test rigs, and diagnostics
Accelerating bring-up, testing, and documentation
Design AI workflows with clear boundaries, fallbacks, and human-in-the-loop controls.
Document systems so others can understand, trust, and extend them.
What We’re Looking For
-
You know how code works:
Comfortable reading and reasoning about production codebases
Understand APIs, data flows, state, and failure modes
Can write code when needed, but don’t default to rewriting everything
-
Familiarity with hardware hacking or embedded systems:
Microcontrollers, firmware, sensors, or low-level interfaces
Using AI tools to assist in embedded programming and debugging
-
Strong systems thinking:
You see dependencies, edge cases, and second-order effects
-
Pragmatic mindset:
Reliability and leverage over novelty
-
Clear communicator:
You can explain what an AI system is doing, why it’s safe, and where it can fail
-
Bonus:
Python, JavaScript/TypeScript
Experience with C/C++, Rust, or MicroPython
Experience with internal tools, automations, or ops-heavy environments
Interest in vehicles, manufacturing, or physical products
What This Is Not
Not a pure research internship
Not prompt engineering theater
Not AI bolted on for optics
Why This Role Matters
Infinite Machine builds real, physical products. AI is leverage only when deployed with discipline and respect for real-world constraints. This role exists to make the company materially faster and more resilient by placing AI exactly where it belongs—and nowhere else.
