We are looking for a Senior Global People Business Partner to be a trusted advisor to senior leaders and to align People initiatives with business objectives to drive organizational success. This position will provide strategic guidance and support on the following aspects of HR: performance management, international HR practices (including immigration and global mobility), HR program management, and HR process improvement. This position will be located in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area, and will need to be in the office at least once a week.
In this role, you will support our Product, Applications and Marketing teams so your breadth of experience working with both tech and non-tech employees will be invaluable. You will also have the opportunity to program manage complex, cross-organizational, and international projects. This work will let you highlight your influence, communication, and program management skills as you drive the ongoing build-out of IonQ’s systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HR strategies that support the business objectives across all geographies (US, Canada, Middle East and Europe).
- Serve as a strategic partner to C-Suite leadership on HR-related issues, acting as an employee advocate and change agent. This would include managing routine rhythm of the business process such as talent assessment and compensation awards and client-centric programs such as coaching plans and organizational design.
- Drive process improvement and evolution of IonQ’s immigration and global mobility practices for new and existing employees.
- Play active role in immigration cases, working alongside immigration attorneys.
- Act as program manager on HR practices that require improvement such as onboarding, performance management and learning & development.
- Analyze people analytics trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies to improve organizational health in the areas of the business that you support.
- Manage and resolve complex employee engagement issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations when necessary.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Work closely with management and employees to improve teamwork, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Provide guidance and input on organizational effectiveness, workforce and succession planning, and employee relations.
You’d be a good fit with:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Relevant certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is helpful but not required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in HR, with at least 4 years in a business partner role.
- HR experience in the Tech industry
- HR experience in global mobility and/or immigration.
- Confidence with multiple aspects of HR, including HR Operations, Compensation and Employee Relations.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, supporting international organizations (Europe, Middle East and/or Asia), performance management and helping organizations scale.
- Willingness and ability to “roll up your sleeves” and create/execute work while also being a strategic thought partner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong program management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to develop trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results.
- Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines and experience successfully managing shifting priorities as business needs evolve and change.
- High level of integrity and management of confidential information.
You’d be a great fit with:
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Org Development or a related field.
- 2+ years experience setting up employees in new entities/countries and/or involvement in mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
- Total rewards experience ideally, including familiarity or expertise with Radford.
- Familiarity and/or hands-on experience in Federal and multi-state employment law.
- Experience working with Dayforce HRIS and SQL reporting.
Location: This hybrid role will be based in College Park, MD.
Travel: Less than 25%
The approximate base salary range for this position is $108,438- $141,407.
Compensation will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. Beyond base salary, total compensation includes a variable bonus and equity component and a range of benefit options found on our career site at ionq.co/jobs. IonQ's HQ is located in College Park, Maryland, a quick 15-minute metro from Washington DC. We are actively building out our recently opened manufacturing and production facility in Bothell, WA (near Seattle). Depending on the position, you may be required to be near one of our offices in College Park, Seattle, or Toronto.
