We are seeking a Staff QA Automation Engineer (SDET) to drive the vision and strategy for quality engineering across LeanData. This is a senior individual contributor role that combines deep technical expertise with cross-team influence. You will architect automation frameworks, set standards, and mentor engineers at all levels, ensuring our QA automation practices scale with our growing platform.
What you’ll be doing
Define and evolve the company-wide QA automation strategy with a focus on Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript)
Architect scalable, reusable, and maintainable frameworks that support UI, API, integration, and end-to-end testing across multiple product lines
Partner with QA leadership to define and evangelize QA automation best practices across teams
Lead the integration of automation into CI/CD pipelines and influence release engineering practices
Mentor Senior SDETs and QA Engineers, helping grow the next generation of automation leaders
Contribute to long-term quality roadmap that reduces risk, increases coverage, and accelerates release velocity
Requirements
5+ years of experience in QA Automation / SDET roles
Deep expertise with Playwright (preferred) and strong programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript
Proven track record of designing automation frameworks that scale across multiple teams and product areas
Strong experience integrating automation into complex CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based environments
Strong understanding of observability, production quality metrics, and risk-based testing strategies
Solid understanding of testing strategies (unit, integration, API, E2E) and their role in SDLC
Strong knowledge of SQL and data validation for backend testing
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Bonus points if you have
Solid knowledge of AWS services and/or Salesforce
Familiarity with Java is a plus
