Manticore Games® is the developer of Core, a premier gaming UGC platform featuring live events, interactive entertainment, and more than 50,000 games and worlds to play and explore. It’s a radically accessible game construction kit and social game-playing platform, all-in-one. Manticore is now leveraging the power of Core to build a new immersive, life-simulation MMO experience.

Manticore Games is seeking a highly motivated multi-talented UX/UI Designer to help us build an interconnected, entertaining multiplayer experience. In this role, you will be working closely with the product and design teams to produce comprehensible and accessible interactive experiences as well as driving research initiatives that create actionable recommendations for the product. This is a six month temporary position with the potential to be hired on as a full time employee. Our headquarters are located in San Mateo, CA but this role can be fully remote in the U.S.


  • Use user testing software to complete research projects from beginning to end, including playtests.
  • Utilize both quantitative and qualitative research methods, such as playtests, surveys, focus groups, and interviews, in user research studies.
  • Work closely with game designers, product managers, and producers to understand project goals, requirements, and constraints.
  • Design wireframes, storyboards, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using industry-standard software tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers to integrate UX/UI designs into the game engine, ensuring that all visual and interactive elements are functional, optimized, and accessible.
  • Iterate and refine designs based on user testing, analytics data, and stakeholder feedback.


  • Minimum 3+ years experience in UX/UI Design for games.
  • 2+ years conducting user research.
  • Strong proficiency working with designer tools such as Figma, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, user research methods, and usability testing techniques.
  • Capable of quick iteration on designs while still maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Familiarity building User Interfaces in Unity or Unreal.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of UX/UI design projects, preferably in video games.
  • Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of player psychology and motivations.


  • First hand knowledge working with Unreal Blueprints.
  • Experience in designing interfaces for multiple platforms.
  • Experience in responsive design for mobile and web.
  • Use user testing software to complete research projects from beginning to end, including playtests.
  • Familiarity with generating simple reports and statistical evaluations of user research through tools like Google Sheets, Google Slides, or Excel.

$80,000/year to $140,000/year

A reasonable estimate of the current US base salary range for this position is salary (the range listed above) + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within that range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including but not limited to job-related skill sets, experience and training, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include discretionary bonus (if any, based on individual and organizational performance), equity, or benefits.
