Primary responsibility for designing, organizing, managing, and providing technical vision related to systems delivery and infrastructure automation. Responsible for developing, integrating, and providing active technical leadership for multiple concurrent cloud delivery initiatives. Utilizes an in depth understanding of monitoring solutions within a hybrid cloud infrastructure using modern DevOps, code and automation oriented approaches. Will utilize development experience automating and refactoring complex application stacks within a heterogeneous computing environment. Mentor technical talent with the Enablement Services – Foundations organization and across other technical areas of Empower.

Will utilize an in depth understanding of multi-layered technological delivery solutions, such as, decentralized distributed networking, security systems, diverse load balancing technologies, n-tier/Microservice application flows, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and monitoring solutions within a hybrid cloud infrastructure using modern DevOps, and automation oriented approaches. Lead the development, automation and integration of complex, legacy and next generation, application stacks within a heterogeneous computing environment is required. As a Lead Developer, will grow technical talent within the Enablement Services – Foundations organization within an Agile (Sprint oriented) context.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop technical standards and publish community patterns;
  • Mentor technical colleagues;
  • Develop, automate, manage and administer infrastructure and application solutions using DevOps and cloud oriented architectures;
  • Collaborate with platform owners to identify and standardize delivery requirements, implement automated solutions, and create associated documentation;
  • Lead the technical approach, design and implementation of next generation architectures;
  • Collaborate with external teams and organizations to provide effective access to monitoring data;
  • Pro-active support, policy management, incident management and resolution of issues related to supported environments;
  • 2+ years of Autosys application installation, upgrades, job creation & job edits
  • Collaborate, develop and build appropriate tools for rapid and consistent management of monitoring tools for OnPrem and Cloud Platforms;
  • Participate in on-call rotations.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Technical Science, or Information Systems preferred or equivalent skills and experience

OTHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 9 years’ experience working in a DevOps oriented systems administrator role and Information Technology experience
  • Must have prior experience operating in a DevOps context where more than 50% of the workday includes writing production code and mentoring colleagues
  • Proven experience writing operationalized production code (Python, PERL, Ruby, Java, Scala, Groovy, C, BASH or other related programming language common to DevOps oriented pipelines)
  • Mastery of automation, including but not limited to, Infrastructure as code, High Availability, systems resiliency, error handling, actionable telemetry data, and visibility into automated processes
  • Demonstrated understanding of multi-tier web application architectures
  • Demonstrated ability to translate and establish monitoring requirement from technical and non-technical information
  • Good Oracle internal insight with Oracle Wallet, Encryption, DataPump, etc
  • Expertise in navigating Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Containerized Operating Systems
  • Ability to write documentation and share knowledge with OnShore/OffShore teammates
  • Proven customer focus, with a track record of proactive engagement
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Prior experience architecting, integrating, and providing active technical leadership for multiple concurrent cloud delivery initiatives is critical to successfully navigating this role.
  • Must possess an in depth understanding of monitoring solutions within a hybrid cloud infrastructure using modern DevOps, code and automation oriented approaches is required.
  • Prior development experience automating and refactoring complex application stacks within a heterogeneous computing environment is required.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as APM, Infrastructure metrics, Log/Event aggregation) Experience with Open Source orchestration toolkits such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Git, Jira
  • Experience with developing real-time visibility through custom coding Experience writing code that interfaces with various custom API’s
  • Experience with cloud environments and concepts AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, or other IAAS/SaaS platforms, such as VMware, Citrix, or RHEV.
  • Combinations of the following programming languages and technologies: C/C++, PL/SQL, Groovy/Grails, Oracle Pro*C/Forms, Java, JavaScript, Python, CVS, ANT, FTP, SSH, SSL, PGP System Automation Tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Fabric) Containerization and Cloud (Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services (AWS)) Service Registries (Consul, Zookeeper, etc.)

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work during the US business hours.
  • 24x7 on-call pager rotation week, every 2-3 weeks
