We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to work alongside our leadership and partnerships team to turn strategic opportunities into executed projects that drive growth.

The Role

As Senior Business Development Manager, you will sit at the intersection of partnerships, product and marketing. You will be the connective tissue between external business opportunities and internal teams—ensuring that once a deal or partnership is initiated, it’s executed smoothly across Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Bioinformatics. Working directly with senior leadership, you will also support lead generation and brand visibility by partnering with marketing and PR to leverage Sequencing’s owned and earned channels as a top-of-funnel BD tool.

This role is designed for someone who thrives in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment, with success dependent on cross-functional collaboration and detailed execution.

What You'll Do

Partnership Support & Execution

• Participate in BD calls with prospective partners (e.g., research labs, concierge clinics, diagnostic platforms) to capture commitments, track deliverables and manage opportunities through completion.
• Ensure external promises (timelines, reports, integrations) are translated into internal workstreams.
• Act as the day-to-day liaison for internal and external partners, providing continuity between strategy discussions and tactical execution.

Pipeline & Project Management

• Maintain and update the BD pipeline tracker, ensuring leadership has visibility into stages, blockers, and next steps.
• Draft term sheets, templates, and documentation to standardize partnership workflows.
• Work in Jira/Confluence to track BD-related initiatives, ensuring they’re properly scoped, visible, and on schedule.

Marketplace & Content Support

• Assist with operational needs of the Sequencing.com Marketplace (quality checks, launches, coordination with product team).
• Support content initiatives, such as theSequencing Podcast, as a top-of-funnel lead gen channel, coordinating guest scheduling, episode tracking, and ensuring content is leveraged for BD outreach.
• Partner with PR to align podcast episodes, press coverage, and conference opportunities as part of a cohesive BD strategy.

Conferences and Events

• Track and assess conference opportunities (rare disease, concierge medicine, multiomics, DNA-as-a-service) and recommend strategic participation.
• Manage event preparation for conferences and events, act as point of contact for all logistics and ensure actionable follow-up post-event.
• Coordinate with Marketing and PR to optimize conference visibility and strategic value.

What We're Looking For

• 4–7 years of experience in business development, partnerships, or project management—ideally in SaaS, health tech, or eCommerce.
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills: you thrive on ensuring no detail is dropped and no deliverable goes unnoticed.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage partners professionally and align cross-functional teams internally.
• Comfortable with Jira, Confluence, and pipeline tracking—able to keep systems clean, usable, and accurate.
• A relationship-first mindset: you understand that BD is as much about cultivating trust as it is about execution.
• Highly independent operator: you don’t wait for step-by-step instructions; you create clarity in ambiguity.

Bonus if you have:

• Experience in genomics, healthcare, or HIPAA-regulated industries.
• Familiarity with content-driven BD (podcasts, earned media, thought leadership).
• Prior exposure to marketplace or platform ecosystems.
