Senior Scientist
Synthorx
At Sanofi we are committed in our quest to be a world-class biologics research organization and are steadfast in our goal to bring next generation, transformative therapies to patients. Our global Large Molecule Research (LMR) platform consists of five sites, and approximately 550 personnel focused on antibodies, nanobodies and synthorins as therapeutic modalities. Our platform enables and partners closely with other research platforms and Sanofi’s therapeutic areas (Immunology & Inflammation, Immuno-Oncology, Rare & Neurologic Diseases) in the discovery and ultimate delivery of new candidate molecules.
Our Protein Engineering group within the Large Molecule Research Platform US is seeking a highly motivated and talented biophysical scientist with strong expertise in protein structure-function relationship, protein-protein interactions, protein biochemical and biophysical characterization, and HTP assay development. Our Protein Engineering group has a great track record of patents and publications in Fc engineering and multi-specific antibodies (incl. Science, Nature), and has developed novel mode of actions with structure-based design. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment to develop and implement assays for enabling candidate selection within Sanofi’s promising pipeline of biotherapeutics. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to contribute to resolving challenges in early prediction of developability characteristics in large molecule drug R&D and make impacts to patients’ lives.
Responsibilities
Plan and execute developability assessments in accordance with Sanofi standards
Collaborate with colleagues from Discovery, Production, Analytics, Engineering and Development to continuously evolve methods for early developability risk assessment
Implement HTP methods for biochemical and biophysical characterization of highly engineered therapeutic antibodies
Analyze large data sets to identify trends and correlation between biophysical characteristics and drug like properties
Evaluate and establish leading edge methods to expand HTP analytics capabilities in the Large Molecule Research group
Closely monitor leading edge developments in scientific literatures and develop new skills in the area of therapeutic candidate credentialing technologies, and characterization of protein solution properties
Qualifications
PhD in Biochemistry or a related discipline with 3+ years of relevant industry experience in characterizing protein therapeutics.
Hands-on experience and deep understanding of protein structure, chemistry, and degradation mechanisms and biophysical/analytical characterization methods, such as Thermal stability analysis, charge variant analysis, solution behavior, light scattering and standard chromatography techniques.
Proficient with protein-protein interaction technologies, such as Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) or Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI) methods and instruments
Experience in automating highly complex analytical methods for sample management/ handling and data analysis/ curating/ interpretation
Experience working on developability of multi-specific antibodies is strongly preferred
Strong drive for self-development with a focus on scientific know-how
Excellent problem solving and written/oral communication skills, as well as scientific writing, presentation, and collaboration skills
Track record of scientific accomplishments as evidenced by a strong publication record
Strong work ethic, team-oriented, project-focused, and motivated to produce high quality data on an aggressive timeline
Strong leadership qualities with an established track record of success and be motivated to work cross-functionally to bring people together
