Product Owner, API & Middleware Platforms

About the Job

The Product Owner of API & Middleware Platforms will play a pivotal role in leading the strategic planning, development, and continuous improvement of our API and Middleware product offerings. This position involves not only product ownership but also effective people management and leadership skills to manage a team of talented engineers and developers. As a key influencer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and customer support, to define the product roadmap and deliver high-quality, reliable, and scalable API and Middleware solutions that drive business growth and customer satisfaction.

In addition to driving the technical aspects of the platform, you will be responsible for providing mentorship, guidance, and support to your team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture that celebrates innovation and empowers individuals to excel in their roles. Your leadership will be essential in ensuring the team's success in delivering outstanding products and solutions that exceed customer expectations and position our API & Middleware Platforms at the forefront of the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy and Roadmap Development:

• Define and communicate a clear and compelling product vision and strategy for API & Middleware Platforms, aligned with overall company objectives
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive intelligence to inform the product roadmap
• Prioritize and manage the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer priorities

Product Development and Delivery:

• Lead the Agile product development process, working closely with engineering teams to deliver high-quality API & Middleware solutions on time and within budget
• Create detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to guide the development team
• Champion best practices in product development, including scalability, security, and performance optimizations

People Management and Leadership:

• Manage and lead a team of engineers and developers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to foster a collaborative and high-performing culture
• Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals, and identify professional development opportunities for team members
• Create an environment that encourages innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning among team members

Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication:

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, to gather feedback, identify pain points, and validate product enhancements
• Conduct regular product reviews and status updates to keep stakeholders informed about the progress and impact of API & Middleware initiatives
• Ensure effective communication across teams to foster a collaborative and productive work environment

Product Performance Monitoring and Improvement:

• Utilize data-driven insights and analytics to assess the performance of API & Middleware Platforms and identify areas for improvement
• Drive continuous improvement efforts based on feedback, metrics, and market trends to enhance the platform's capabilities and user experience

Compliance and Security:

• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure API & Middleware Platforms meet industry standards and adhere to data privacy regulations
• Proactively address potential security risks and vulnerabilities, implementing measures to protect organizational data
  

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field (advanced degree preferred). This is flexible for the right candidate
• Proven experience (7 years) as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or in a similar role within API and Middleware product development
• Solid understanding of API design, RESTful architecture, and middleware technologies
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and product development lifecycle
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication and leadership abilities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Experience in managing products at scale, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability
• Previous experience in people management, mentoring, and team leadership
• Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in API management and middleware technologies
• Passion for technology, innovation, and delivering exceptional user experiences

Preferred Skills

• Strong Regulatory Experience (GxP, Sarbanes-Oxley, French Data Protection Act (FDPA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
• Good knowledge of Cloud Computing (Knowledge of AWS/Azure a plus)
• Experience (and enjoyment) working with emerging technologies
