Our Team

The HSE Workplace Experience team in Sanofi R&D – Ghent is currently seeking a motivated scientific safety professional with R&D mentality to serve as HSE Safety Officer to support the HSE team in the field of prevention and protection at work at Sanofi R&D Ghent, to ensure that employees can perform their job in a safe working environment and the company complies with all legal provisions.

This position will provide operational support in implementing programs at the Ghent site to ensure the HSE management system is in place. Key areas for this HSE role include occupational hygiene exposure assessment, organize an provide training in compliance with regulations and Sanofi standards, prevention of spills and releases of hazardous substances and emergency/crisis management response in accordance with company standards. Contribute to promoting HSE culture by providing HSE data reporting to regional, global and local HSE dashboard communications.

Main responsibilities

• Participate in the implementation, maintenance and evolution of the HSE management system. These activities can include but are not limited to
• Update of risk assessments in the different pillars of HSE
• Maintain regulatory registers and assist with permit submissions
• Maintain registers and other elements for biomedical and hazardous programs
• Maintain contractor status reports and perform contractor inspections
• Contribute to HSE event investigation
• Promote HSE-related lessons learnt and the exchange of HSE information across the departments
• Completing workstation identification sheets for internships
• Scheduling medical examinations in line with the risk at the workplace
• Perform ergonomic office evaluations and management of ergonomic requests
• Monitoring and organizing compliance safety training course
• Promote the safety culture by personal example
• Organization of internal meetings and other HSE events

About you

• Very strong administrative organization and reporting skills
• Goal-oriented is part of your daily routine
• Demonstrable ability to work in a team with good communication skills
• Take initiative and complete actions completely within the agreed timeline
• Show a sense of service, focus on results and satisfaction
• Work carefully and pay attention to details
• Notions of health and safety legislation are an asset
• Expected educational qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a scientific area (biotechnology, pharmacy, medical science)
• Fluent in Dutch (native preferred) and English, both written and oral
• MS Office
• Experience with health, safety and environmental program areas relating to laboratory safety is an asset (safety advisor level 3)
