Position Summary

The Mechanic Operator role is an advanced level Packaging Technician that is responsible for fully understanding and operating the assigned equipment, while being fully capable of performing corrective and preventative maintenance.

This role is a third shift position. Hours: 10:45pm – 7:15am

Position Responsibilities

  • Operate an assigned equipment Center(s)/line

  • Operate an electric floor jack.

  • Support other packaging technicians through troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing equipment

  • Learn and understand all SOPs for maintenance technician level and operator level positions

  • Be competent and able to operate all assigned equipment to include normal running parameters, set points, etc

  • Execute work orders including special projects, rebuilds and installations when requested

  • Work with a sense of urgency to repair and startup the line as quickly as possible

  • Develop a working knowledge of basic maintenance principles

  • Intermediate electrical troubleshooting

  • Execute PMs during planned stoppages to include focus on project work installation, tag closure, standard procedure creation, and work order execution

  • Work with vendors as needed for start up, improvement and modification of equipment

  • Train technicians on equipment standards and technical training modules as needed

  • Understand losses of equipment and develop plans to reduce downtime based on highest loss machine per line

  • Vacation support for Lead Technician (crew leads)

Position Requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • At least one (1) year of technical level class work required from an accredited technical school

Experience

  • At least 1-3 years of experience as an entry-level mechanic in industrial maintenance or technical apprenticeship

Role Specific Competencies

  • Sound problem solving skills

  • Effective Communication

  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement methods

  • Computer skills (Microsoft office)

  • Ability to Train others

Desired Qualifications

  • Technical level degree in industrial maintenance
