Are you interested in Organic Chemistry, Photocatalysis, Electrochemistry and Drug Discovery and are you looking for a challenging PhD project, then we may have the ideal position for you. In the Small Molecular Design (SMD) Department of our Integrated Drug Discovery platform, we are looking for a motivated PhD Student, who will work in the methodology development to deliver novel macrocyclic molecules by applying state of the art photo- and electrochemical reactions in key synthetic transformations.

You will be part of the SMD team and the Integrated Drug Discovery Platform, which is providing a stimulating environment with knowledge in advanced Organic Synthesis, Catalysis, Photo- and Electrochemistry and Drug Discovery. The envisioned research is highly interdisciplinary with several promising potential applications. You will have sufficient freedom to shape the project in the direction of your experience and or your interest. The working conditions are excellent with state-of-the-art research facilities. The funding will be available for three years and there is the expectation that this time is sufficient to be successful. The candidate needs to register at the partnering university.

About you

• MSc Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Pharmacy
• A strong background in Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry
• First experiences in Photochemistry and/or Electrochemistry is considered as an advantage
• Practical experience in one or more of the following: organic synthesis, structural characterization (NMR, MS)
• Excellent communication skills in English;
• Self-motivation, eagerness to learn.
• High grade of organization and self-dependance
• less than 12 months (for any reason) in Germany during the last 3 years (program requirement)
