About the Job

The Medical Value & Outcomes (MVO) team member serves as the medical scientific lead for population-based healthcare decision makers to facilitate scientific exchange on disease state management and the value of Sanofi Specialty Care products, to drive optimized care pathways for health systems to improve patient outcomes, to provide insights to internal teams on key evidence gaps relevant to healthcare decision-makers, and to identify and execute research, education, and other collaborations per applicable SOPs. This position is portfolio based, covering therapeutic areas within the Sanofi Specialty Care division, including Neurology, Immunology, Rare Blood Disorders, and Oncology franchises serving as the medical lead for assigned strategic health ecosystems.

The position supports the strategic and cross functional alignment within the organization in order to support optimized patient care pathways and patient access within health ecosystems (Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), quality organizations, health plans, etc.) and the safe and appropriate use of Sanofi therapies. The MVO Ecosystem lead assists in the development of Integrated Medical Plans through collaboration with Medical therapeutic areas and other internal stakeholders for assigned products. In partnership with multiple internal stakeholders, the MVO Ecosystem Lead aids in developing short and long-term strategies to integrate and advance the communication and needs of the specialty community. This position reports to MVO Population Health Lead and is a member of the Sanofi Speciality Care North American Medical team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Serve as medical scientific account strategy lead for prioritized national health ecosystems with the goal of advancing population health, patient access, and customer experience

  • Develop and implement strategic account plans for MVO organization engagement with IDNs, health system specialty pharmacies, quality organizations

  • Oversee, coach and upskill regional MVOs in IDN account strategy, partnering with appropriate internal and external population health stakeholders

  • Develop IDN initiatives, KPIs, and medical plans for regional MVO team to identify, develop, and maintain credible scientific partnerships with National Population Health Decision Makers (PHDMs) who are involved with formulary decisions, treatment protocol development, quality measures, or population health management that align with Sanofi strategic priorities

  • Lead development and execution of customized medical account plans for assigned priority accounts in alignment with current Sanofi Specialty Care medical strategies and tactics and per approved policies, procedures and guidelines.

  • Facilitate scientific exchange/education and provide access to medical, health policy, clinical and health economic information (e.g., clinical presentations, dossier, budget impact models, etc.), and tailor information to meet the evidence needs of healthcare decision-makers, in alignment with current medical brand strategies and in a compliant manner for regional team members.

  • Collect and share customer insights and evidence gaps that help to inform and advance product portfolio development and customer engagement, including medical brand strategies, customer educational needs, scientific/health outcomes communications, and research priorities. Develop key medical contacts within these health ecosystems related to clinical, evidence-based disease management/health outcome initiatives, aligned with overall medical brand strategy. Help facilitate cross-therapeutic partnerships with field medical teams at the-IDN/health system level.

  • Identify key contacts with applicable national/regional/local medical, payer, and advocacy associations.

  • Lead stakeholder mapping across organized customers including networks, affiliated GPOs and payers alongside national and regional MVOs and MSL teams

  • Provide support or lead Sanofi Specialty Care scientific advisory boards and symposia. Attend and participate as appropriate in corporate and scientific conferences. Work cross-functionally with US Account Director team(s), as well as field commercial teams when needed and as appropriate, to coordinate engagement of and response to customers’ medical/scientific needs including alignment with additional Sanofi resources (e.g., Medical Directors, MSLs, Brand Team, HEOR/HEVA, or other functions).

  • Lead the development and delivery of field tools, resources, materials and training (e.g. product dossier, economic models, slide kits, articles, review summaries etc.) while efficiently managing assigned budget.

  • Serve as mentor/preceptor for fellows and students.

  • Execute upon evidence generation activities, including process and budget management

  • Coordinate population health related activities with the Population Health Director therapeutic leads

  • Support geographic or local healthcare market opportunities with commercial colleagues

Other Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of collaborative research partnerships and the placement of appropriate RWE/health outcomes and population health management studies with appropriate field and home office collaboration and support that is consistent with all applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines, while effectively managing budget.

  • Contribute to the organization and submission of outcomes research project data for presentation at scientific congresses and authorship in scientific publications.

  • In alignment with the MVO Team Education and Training leader, provide internal training and share expertise on scientific, health policy, and HEOR data to appropriate stakeholders.

About You

Knowledge, Skills, and Equivalent Experience

  • Demonstrates advanced level knowledge of current US healthcare system, healthcare delivery, and biotechnology drug/device development process required.

  • Demonstration of business acumen within organized customer groups/health ecosystems and managed care organizations

  • Knowledge of HEOR disciplines and understanding of biostatistics and evidence-based medicine required (i.e. research methodology, developing clinical protocols, clinical reports, etc.).

  • Advanced ability to drive implementation of strategic plans by field organization.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and work effectively in a constantly changing environment in both an independent and collaborative manner.

  • Demonstrates a customer service mindset and the ability to gain insights and identify customer needs and opportunities.

  • Strategic thinking and business acumen.

  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge to effectively communicate medical, scientific, health economic, and business information to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to balance travel requirements for face-to-face customer engagements, meetings, and congresses with day-to-day requirements and task completion related to job function.

Educational Background/Job-Related Experience

  • Education: Doctoral degree - MD, PharmD, or PhD (clinical) strongly preferred, or NP, PA, or BS Pharm with above experiences; MBA or additional degree/certification in health economics, health outcomes, public health or health policy is a plus.

  • Experience working within and partnering with IDNs and/or GPOs or other organized customer ecosystems and development/execution of population health strategies

  • Managed care experience (e.g., experience as medical/clinical executive within managed healthcare organization or similar experience within the pharmaceutical industry)

  • Clinical and/or pharmaceutical industry experience in specialty therapeutic fields strongly preferred (e.g., Multiple Sclerosis, Immunology-Inflammation, Dermatology, Asthma, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Oncology, Hemophilia and others)

  • Pharmaceutical industry, managed care experience, or similar required (e.g., field based medical/HEOR, value-access, market access) (2 years for Senior Manager; 3-5 years for Associate Director level; > 5 years for Director level)

The salary range for this position is $195,000.00 - $260,000.00 USD Annually. All compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience.
