The Site HSE Lead will oversee operations at the Pearl River site, managing the HSE Management system, programs, audits, and overall operations. This role involves guiding HSE Champions, implementing the HSE Maturity plan, Leading Safety Program, Planet Care Program, and managing waste, industrial hygiene, safety, and related initiatives. Responsibilities include setting Key Process Indicators for HSE, participating in the site’s leadership team, and collaborating with the Site Head. Additionally, the role requires aligning HSE activities and decisions with the Sanofi HSE management system and orientation letter directives. This position reports to the HSE lead for US Vaccines and involves 10% travel.

Job Responsibilities:
HSE Audit / GEMBA / MSV / Field Verification.
Build and maintain the site’s HSE management system.
Provide in-depth HSE knowledge, expertise, coaching to all the departments of the site.
Lead & promote proactive HSE culture and capabilities.
Coordinate the site’s risk assessment and site’s risk mitigation process.
Secure the site license to operate regarding Health, Safety and Environment regulations and permit, avoid administrative notice and lead relationship with external legal Authorities and local stakeholders.
Define and drive the site’s HSE continuous improvement plan and initiatives to enhance performance, efficiency, and compliance, using tools such as SMS, +QDCI, and 5S.
Organize the HSE event management.
Lead local HSE emergency response and HSE crisis management activities.
Ensure strict adherence to cGMPs, regulatory requirements, and internal company standards.
Proactively identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks related to quality, HSE, and business continuity.
Develop and manage budgets, ensuring alignment with site and company financial objectives.
Act as a key member of the site leadership team, actively contributing to the development and execution of strategic initiatives that align with organizational goals.
Develop strong working relationships and effective communication channels across all organizational levels.
Provide regular feedback
Maintain transparency in addressing challenges, escalating issues when necessary to ensure timely resolution.
About You
Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree in Health Safety & Environment, Industrial Hygiene, or Chemical/Physical/Biological Sciences, or equivalent required.
Experienced in Occupational Hygiene, Safety, Environmental expertise, product stewardship (& security) required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSE management required.
Master level of proficiency in management system, Regulatory knowledge, Matrix management, Project management, striving for results.
Transversal management skills.
Strong abilities to coach and animate to drive transformation and HSE performance.
Certifications: CSP, CIH or CHMM preferred.
DOT IATA and HAZMAT certification preferred.
Soft skills:
Self-driven and ability to perform with minimal oversight by site head.
Delivers value added projects on time and on budget.
Experienced in stakeholder management.
Interaction with regulatory agencies and health authority inspections.
Proficiency in strategic thinking, change management, ability to influence and business partnering.
Strong strategic skills including the ability to make complex decisions and willingness to defend difficult positions.
Excellent operational skills including the ability to motivate and lead others.
Interpersonal skills to resolve, escalate issues, and manage risks.
