MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Global Business Services (GBS) was established as a new transversal, multi-disciplinary function supporting and accelerating Sanofi’s transformation towards establishing a sustainable standalone Consumer Healthcare business through the implementation of a set of operational legal presence across in-scope markets. Opella Global Business Services (GBS) drives transformation projects to ensure it delivers best in class processes in terms of quality, cost, performance, customer satisfaction and needs, supported by high quality master data and performance KPIs. Within GBS, the services related to HR or People operations is managed by a service line namely People Services (PPLS).
Therefore, GBS PPLS is looking for a Time to Payroll Specialist (T2P) and Process Excellence supporting South Asia countries with immediate hiring needs for Malaysia payroll. A PPLS T2P Specialist and Process Excellence typically manages the following areas of the process:
- Handle day-to-day benefits, time and payroll activities
- Manage Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) vendor(s) when relevant
- Address operational issues with stakeholders
- Support employees’ queries
- Transversal: reporting, compliance, continuous improvement, project management
The Time to Payroll Specialist and Process Excellence reports to PPLS Lead South Asia. The position will work closely with the Employee and External Life Cycle Specialists and also HR, Legal, Compliance, Digital and third-party providers.

Key Accountabilities
Main responsibilities:
- During the first months of joining the People Services team, the Time to Payroll and Process Excellence Specialist will receive knowledge transfer from their buddy related to the role. This will include sharing documents and work shadowing.
- The following detailed activities will be the main activities of the role, but special projects can be added regularly based upon the evolving priorities of GBS:
- Main support for Time to Payroll activities for Malaysia and back up for other countries in Asia depending on business needs.
- Benefits activities: Based on local benefits policy, manage activities related to health and life insurance, company card or car, loans, sport or cultural support, shares etc.
- Time activities: Control time off & time tracking data and share with payroll vendor, prepare local reporting while ensuring compliance as per local regulations and company internal control framework.
- Payroll activities: Gather all payroll input (some are interfaced, some needs to be collected), control payroll calculation results, get payroll approval from manager, store control evidence, prepare post payroll reports, manage statutory bodies, manage internal and external audit, work closely with Accounting and Treasury departments. In case the payroll is partially outsourced, coordinate the payroll activities with the vendor.
- Employee queries: Assist employees on any questions related to benefits, time and payroll. Support should be extended to both active and inactive employees.
Transversal:
- Close collaboration with Employee and External Life Cycle Specialists to support PPLS operations applying our global Core Model.
- Actively contribute to a great Employee Experience: assist candidates and employees with all the available self-services, assist managers and HR partners in their day-to-day administrative tasks.
- Drive Continuous Improvement processes in T2P tasks and processes by providing feedback on known issues, propose ideas, take initiatives for improvement, share best practices.
- As Time to Payroll Process Excellence Specialist, responsible for analyzing, developing, and implementing payroll process improvements to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all processes are well documented and reviewed on a quarterly basis.
- Leading Time to Payroll related projects and work closely within the team and neighboring function.
- Support organization business initiatives such as new merger or acquisition, divestiture, new technology, outsourcing projects etc.
Expected Skills
Experience:
- Experience in managing end to end payroll especially for Asia
- Experience in Human Resources or customer service or care experience within a shared service environment
- Experience with multicultural organization
- Experience with transformation projects (technical and/or functional)
- Experience with case management application(s)
- Role will be supporting Malaysia and possibility other regions
Soft skills:
- Self-organization skills, prioritizes effectively
- Strong communication and customer services skills
- Capable of handling difficult situations by demonstrating professionalism and confidentiality
- Ability to work with a team to create effective strategies and meet team goals
- Customer oriented mindset
Technical skills:
- General knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures
- Previous experience with Workday or similar Global HR systems
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
- Experience in process automation and project implementation
Education:
- BA/ BSc or Equivalent in HR or related discipline
Languages:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Additional language proficiency is advantageous
