As Northern Europe Customs Manager (all genders) within our Global Customs team, you’ll be accountable for managing Customs conformity for all international flows in Northern Europe. You will strive for Customs optimizations through Customs and organizational leverages and will be a key player representing Customs in Sanofi Projects while working in a multicultural environment. You will manage 2 collaborators who will be based in Germany.

Main responsibilities:

As part of the Sanofi Group responsibilities, the Customs manager (all genders) guarantees the compliance of the Customs data & practices in Germany, Switzerland, Austria & Benelux Countries according to the Customs regulations and Trade agreements in forth. Reporting to the Head of Customs, the Customs manager is responsible of

  • The development of the Northern European Customs team and support of the Customs network in the EMEA region.

  • The flows conformity for import and exports.

  • The Customs data determination and maintenance

  • Participation in projects initiated by the group requiring Customs support.

  • Optimizations of Customs operations by implementing leverages to reduce customs duties.

Manage the Northern Europe Customs team

  • Implement Customs procedures, train local stakeholders and reflect Customs process in procedures/modus operandi.

  • Manage and develop the local team; set up priorities aligned with the Global Customs team and monitor the collaborators’ careers through regular reviews.

  • Monitor the activity of the department via monthly indicators and perform reporting to the Central Customs team.

Manage Customs data accuracy for Northern European plants

  • Ensure that classifications of all products manufactured, sold and procured in Germany are accurate and are reflected in the appropriate ERP.

  • Determine the preferential status of goods manufactured by the Northern European affiliates.

  • Monitor the country of origin in the local ERP for all products sold.

  • Ensure that valuation processes are accurate for non-commercial goods.

  • Is accountable for the maintenance of the regulatory Customs database to record all data related to imported flows.

  • Manage Customs accuracy for the inbound & outbounds flows from/to Northern Europe

Customs documentation

  • Ensure that Customs operations performed in Germany meet the quality criteria to obtain the full AEO certification.

  • Monitor and maintain customs authorizations, Power of attorney, Customs mandates, proxys.

  • Implement local procedures to reduce the risk of non-compliance and reflect the Quality documentation in the Group Quality Library.

Customs audits/certification:

  • Participate in Customs inspections/audits in the Northern European countries and revert to other Customs authorities when needed.

  • Follow up and monitor checks and disputes as well as customs inspections/audits. Set up corrective solutions when needed and train the related neighboring functions

  • Ensure that AEO standards are fulfilled for all Sanofi legal entities in Germany.

  • Manage yearly price adjustments with local Customs and the Transfer price team.

  • You will be accountable for the Sanofi bonded warehouse Accounting and responsible for monitoring adjustments when needed.

Implement Customs optimizations in Northern Europe

  • Collaborate with the Process & Performance manager (all genders) to establish the yearly roadmap and monitoring of the local optimizations.

  • Perform analysis on imported goods to apply any specific regime in order to reduce import duties (Inward process relief, suspension, preferential origin, bonded inventory); monitor the savings on a yearly basis.

  • Contribute to group projects to harmonize & simplify Customs processes.

  • Propose optimization solutions and synergies with other sanofi plants.

  • Train neighboring functions on Customs activities to support and improve the clearance process.

  • Monitor the broker quality and provide monthly indicators.

About you

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in the Customs area (Warranties, specific regime management, knowledge of German Customs organisation, IPR, Suspensions, preferential origin management, etc…)

  • Experience in Customs with a recognized track record in several positions exposed to Customs in an international environment.

Soft and technical skills:

  • Strong communication skills to manage a local team and work with various neighboring functions

  • Capacity to manage smoothly deadlines along with intrinsic technical / resource constraints

Education:

  • Completed vocational training or university degree combined with several years of professional experience in Customs

  • Customs credentials required for export control and Customs management

Languages: Fluent in German and English (both written and spoken)
