Within Sanofi, the Procurement function is a powerhouse maximizing savings to fund the company’s future growth. The Chief Procurement Officer is reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, member of the Sanofi executive committee. The Procurement organization is divided into five Domains (Manufacturing & Supply, Marketing & Sales, Professional Services, Scientific & Medical and Digital) leveraging Global Procurement Operations and the Procurement Transformation & Excellence team.

The yearly spend coverage is around 15B€ with a special focus on Procurement Excellence, Supplier Diversity and Sustainability. Closely collaborating with Finance, Business Operations and Business Units, Procurement is instrumental in achieving cost efficiency and savings. Procurement plays a critical role in optimizing Business Operating Income (BOI) impact with a focus on driving simplification, efficiency, and productivity. It forges strategic partnerships with suppliers, prioritizing innovation and data driven solutions.

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join our team as the Data Roadmap & Translation Lead for the Medical & Scientific Domain. In this pivotal role, you will be accountable for the definition and execution of Procurement's data roadmap.

This role will work closely with the Procurement Global Category Teams to understand their requirements for data & analytics, and function as a bridge between those teams and Procurement Services (Sanofi's in-house shared services centre) to translate those business requirements into a strategic data roadmap for the coming years.

Main responsibilities:

  • Strategic Analytics Leadership - Develop and align the Medical & Scientific Domain analytics roadmap with overall Procurement strategy, identifying capabilities and co-developing business cases based on clear value propositions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration - Work closely with Head of Medical & Scientific Procurement and Global Category Teams to capture requirements and understand future data needs for analytics.
  • Data Strategy Development - Create comprehensive data strategy leveraging both internal resources (Procurement Services, Digital teams) and external sources (Bloomberg, etc.) to strengthen data foundations for future analytics capabilities.
  • Advanced Analytics Implementation - Apply deep understanding of statistical and machine learning techniques to develop bespoke data models that enhance procurement performance understanding and deliver actionable insights.
  • Innovation Leadership - Serve as contact point for implementing innovative technologies (Machine Learning, GenAI), while staying current with industry trends and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Team Development - Provide leadership and mentorship to the procurement team, fostering excellence and continuous learning while overseeing capability development initiatives.
  • Executive Communication - Prepare and deliver executive-level reports that effectively communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders, securing buy-in from the Procurement Leadership Team.

About you

Experience and skills:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a procurement role, with a focus on analytics and emerging technologies
  • Strong understanding of Procurement processes and frameworks
  • Significant experience in Indirect Procurement, with knowledge on Medical & Scientific spend categories
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into a technical roadmap to be executed by Procurement Services
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions with unerring focus on generating business value
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, or related fields;

Languages:

  • Fluent in English

Preferred:

  • Experience in Life Sciences or Consulting organizations
  • Master's degree in relevant field, or MBA
  • Proficiency in additional languages
