The proposed position is based within the Process Modeling and Data Science group within CMC Development, R&D. Our group is comprised of process modelers and data scientists focused on using mechanistic, data-driven, and hybrid models to accelerate process development activities.

This project aims to develop high fidelity models to support development of protein capture and polishing steps. In addition to model development and calibration, this project will explore the use of alternative error metrics and advanced tools to improve model evaluation and robustness. The candidate may also leverage optimization and uncertainty quantification tools to enhance model calibration, sensitivity analysis. These efforts are expected to increase model fidelity and build confidence for broader application in process development.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The ideal co-op candidate will have knowledge and hands-on experience in modeling of chromatography using mechanistic (e.g., transport-dispersive, general rate, or lumped rate) or hybrid approaches. An understanding of experimental requirements will be important to effectively collaborate with downstream scientists and iteratively improve the overall modeling workflow.

About You

Basic qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a master's degree or PhD in Chemical, Biochemical Engineering or related field at an accredited college or university

  • Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday, for the full duration of the co-op

  • Must be authorized to work in the US for the duration of the co-op

  • Experience with programming skills in languages such as Python, MATLAB, or R

  • Experience in developing mechanistic or hybrid models for chromatography using either custom code or existing tools (such as GoSilico, Cadet etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of experimental chromatography workflows

  • Interest or experience in evaluating model performance using a variety of error metrics

  • Exposure to tools for optimization, sensitivity analysis, or uncertainty quantification

  • Experience with statistics and AI/ML

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team with modelers and downstream scientists

The salary range for this position is ​$45-$60 hourly​. All compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs. Additional benefits information can be found through LINK.​
