Job Title: Senior Scientist

Location: Cambridge, MA

About the Job

Are you ready to shape the future of medicine? The race is on to speed up drug discovery and development to find answers for patients and their families. Your skills could be critical in helping our teams accelerate progress.

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to drive the advancement of Sanofi’s Rare Blood Disorders pipeline, with a focus on vascular inflammation and its role in genetically driven conditions such as sickle cell disease. The role will also investigate how vascular dysfunction and coagulopathies affect brain health—e.g., stroke, cognitive impairment—as well as broader end-organ damage that drives morbidity and mortality.

The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying novel therapeutic opportunities and expanding our pipeline into new indications. They will contribute across research, clinical, and business development efforts, helping to align scientific insights with strategic goals. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of therapeutics for rare blood disorders and help deliver transformative treatments to patients worldwide.

We are an innovative global healthcare company with one purpose: to chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives. We’re also a company where you can flourish and grow your career, with countless opportunities to explore, make connections with people, and stretch the limits of what you thought was possible. Ready to get started?

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead research efforts on vascular inflammation, vascular dysfunction, and coagulopathies in rare blood disorders.

  • Investigate mechanisms by which vascular pathology drives end-organ damage, including impacts on brain health.

  • Deepen understanding of mechanisms of action and identify opportunities to repurpose existing pipeline molecules for new indications.

  • Apply research expertise to guide and support pipeline expansion through external innovation—staying at the forefront of novel biology, contributing intellectually, and enabling validation studies via external partners or CROs.

  • Contribute to life cycle management efforts across all therapeutic programs, with a particular focus on rare bleeding disorders.

  • Proven track record of impactful contributions to research programs and publications.

Preferred Experience

  • Deep expertise in hematologic conditions—including sickle cell disease—vascular inflammation, cerebrovascular disorders such as stroke, and coagulopathies.

  • Proficient in developing and utilizing in vitro (e.g. coagulation assays, brain microvasculature models) and in vivo (transgenic models of disease as well as interventional models) approaches to investigate mechanisms underlying hematological and cerebrovascular pathologies.

  • Proficient in designing and executing in vivo pharmacology and biodistribution studies using rodent and non-human primate models to evaluate therapeutic efficacy and tissue distribution.

  • Skilled in overseeing CRO partnerships and cultivating academic collaborations to advance research and development objectives.

  • Computational data analysis skills (e.g., R, Python).
