About the job
The Industrial Hygiene and Biosafety Technician VIE works within the Industrial Hygiene (IH) and Biosafety team, part of the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) organization at Sanofi Toronto.
The role is responsible for assisting the Industrial Hygiene and Biosafety Head with technical and administrative activities, contributing to the site HSE programs with related risk assessments, inspections, tracking, event investigation, training and procedures improvement and implementation, as well as continuous improvement initiatives.

Main responsibilities:
- Assist the biosafety officer (BSO) with updating and revising standard operating protocols and procedures (SOPs) to incorporate precautions, instructions, and critical controls.
- Coordinate annual biological inventory updates and support with biological risk assessments.
- Update of biosafety and IH Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Assist with conducting Biosafety and Industrial Hygiene inspections in Laboratory and Manufacturing areas.
- Assist with overall administration of the biosafety and IH programs as requested by the direct manager.
- Assist with resolving biosafety and biocontainment issues in Laboratories/Manufacturing areas where biological materials are used.
- Assist with investigations of events with biosafety and/or IH impact.
- Attend the Biosafety and Industrial Hygiene Committee to assist with administrative duties
- Assist with Industrial Hygiene qualitative and quantitative assessments, including chemical and noise.
- Assist with other Industrial Hygiene matters as needed (topics can vary from hazardous building materials management, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, occupational hygiene exposure, occupational health program).
About you
Experience:
- Knowledge of scientific procedures, laboratory practices and equipment.
- Basic knowledge and training in biosafety principles and practices.
- Basic knowledge in industrial hygiene principles.
Soft and technical skills:
- Proficiency with digital tools and Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal, written, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Willing to visit laboratory and manufacturing settings containing chemicals and biohazardous materials (no handling).
- Willing to enroll in the site immunization program to access biocontainment zones (TDaP and Influenza).
Education:
- Degree in biological sciences, engineering, or a related degree.
Languages:
- Fluent English.
