About the Job

Global Clinical Development has the largest budget and spend in R&D, due to the complex and expensive nature of Clinical Trials. The business office team is dedicated to maximizing the efficiency, in terms of cost and resourcing, of the department and our portfolio of vaccine projects. Advancing our vaccine project portfolio is dependent upon the accuracy of our resource and financial data and analyses.

The Clinical Integrated Business Operations Leader (Clinical IBOL) is a key leader in this endeavor.

The Clinical IBOL is an expert in resource and/or financial data and their analyses. They manage both standard and moderately complex analyses and requests. They have strong participation in associated processes, taking the lead on one or more key aspects. They incorporate a digital mindset and expertise, developing fit for purpose tools to support the process and the needs of our customers. They are skilled presenters, presenting the data, its impact, and advice to stakeholders at various levels, from SME to department management. The Clinical IBOL serves as mentor and/or line manager to members of the Business Office team.

This position will be located at either the Swiftwater, PA or Marcy-L' Etoile office following Sanofi's flex work policy. The ideal candidate will live within a reasonable commute time to either location.

Main Responsibilities:

Management of Data, including Cost Estimation for Clinical Trials

  • Maintain assigned business office data E2E, related to resources and financial budget, from generation of original estimate to final declaration. This role will focus on costs.

  • The IBOL will generate cost estimates for Clinical trials, utilizing:

    • Operational experience in the conduct of clinical trials

    • Scientific knowledge in the area of vaccines, immunology and/or infectious disease.

    • Grant Plan (Industry tool) and internally developed tools, typically excel and PowerBI.

    • Rigorous standards defined by the Business Office Team.

  • The IBOL will edit, QC, and maintain cost data in the relevant tools (RDPM/Planisware and OneCASA).

  • The IBOL will then analyze and utilize the data in a holistic manner. Understanding the impact on and connection to our portfolio of vaccine projects, the GCD department and R&D in general.

  • They will Conduct reviews with relevant stakeholder(s), challenging them as appropriate

  • Infuse technical, data, and clinical business expertise into data, analyses, advice to stakeholders and customers throughout the process. Manage moderately non-standard, complex analyses and simulations.

Tool Development and Digital Mindset

  • The Business Office’s work is almost entirely centered on data, requiring that digital expertise and mindset is inherent in our daily work.

  • The IBOL needs to apply the most modern, fit for purpose, tools to our data (Advanced excel, PowerQuery, PBI, Tableau).

  • The IBOL needs to develop new tools.

    • Take planning data in its raw state from our planning tools RDPM (Planisware), OneCASA, and other sources and use excel, PowerQuery, PowerBI/Tableau to transform it into data outputs that:

      • Are accurate

      • Are fit for purpose

      • Are easy for customers to use

      • Can be quickly refreshed by the Business Office team

    • The data will include dollars/costs, people/headcount/full time equivalents, and related parameters.

    • The IBOL will provide support for the tools developed (materials, training, continuous improvement, implementation of stakeholder feedback).

Leadership

Independent Leadership and Coordination of assigned Business Office processes

  • Drive key aspects of processes, rolling forecast reviews, data consolidation, preparation for financial exercises for assigned projects and platforms.

  • Support (and lead where appropriate) Business Office Team members and stakeholders through the process, make decisions, ensure quality.

  • Align process and data with relevant stakeholders.

  • Participate in analysis of process results (e.g. Lessons learned) and support implement improvements as necessary.

Mentorship and Management

  • Serve as mentor to assigned colleagues within or outside of the Business Office Team.

  • Provide oversight of non-permanent business office resources (e.g. Contractors, FSP).

  • Leadership and/or core member of Business Office Transversal Teams (e.g. Digital, RDPM, Following the Money).

  • Supports IBOL, Business Office, GCD, and external stakeholders on transversal initiatives as assigned.

About You

It is essential that candidates have expertise in all the following areas

  • Data modeling and reports/visualization development. Proficiency in Excel, Power Query, and either Power BI or Tableau is mandatory.

  • Clinical Trial operational experience, experience in the conduct of clinical trials (Vaccines preferred) is necessary to transform the detailed procedures in the protocol into cost estimates. >2 years preferred.

  • Financial analyses, experience with compilation, analysis, and presentation of financial data.

  • Some level of Scientific background is preferred.

  • Batchelor’s degree in relevant Biological science, computer science, or Finance is acceptable, provided the appropriate experience as outlined above it established.

The salary range for this position is:

$100,500.00 - $145,166.66
