Job Title: Accelerator Lead Software Engineer

  • Location: Lyon
  • Hybrid: 60% office based, 40% remote
  • Permanent, Fulltime

About the job

We are looking for a Software Engineering Lead to join the Manufacturing & Supply (M&S) Accelerator teams. You will lead and manage a team of software engineers, help launch new medicines faster to cover unmet needs and deliver them affordably across the globe. This role is ideal for someone who wants to drive teams to high levels of excellence, initiative and ownership in building products that solve real-world problems.

Main responsibilities:

Scope & impact:

  • Manages a team of senior software engineers, including ICs at higher levels
  • Drives the technical vision for a specialized domain within the broader M&S technology landscape
  • Focuses on delivering high-quality solutions within a defined technical scope, while contributing to the overall engineering strategy

Prioritization & execution:

  • Organizes teamwork, sets goals, and holds the team accountable
  • Monitors team pace and helps them shine
  • Empowers team members to own their work while taking on unowned or undesirable work that enables the team to move faster
  • Aligns team priorities with broader departmental objectives and strategic initiatives
  • Ensure data-driven management and decision-making

Technical excellence:

  • Accountable for the technical output of the team
  • Upholds a high technical bar while making pragmatic trade-offs
  • Develops deep technical expertise in domains critical to M&S innovation
  • Establishes best practices and technical standards within their scope

Coaching & development:

  • Coaches, provides feedback, and invests in the growth of team members through 1:1s and career planning
  • Responsible for recruiting, performance management, promotions, and employee development in partnership with leadership

Leadership & collaboration:

  • Leads the vision, strategy, and values within the team and across the Digital M&S Accelerator
  • Collaborates with stakeholders including product managers, scientists and end users to define and execute the team’s roadmap
  • Partners with leadership on technical direction to enable effective resource allocation and strategic planning
  • Coding isn’t a core responsibility, but you should stay very close to it and be able to provide guidance to the teams

About you

  • Ability to develop and execute a technical vision within a defined scope
  • Experience translating organizational strategy into actionable team objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical excellence while contributing to the broader engineering ecosystem

Your background:

  • Significant experience in software engineering (or equivalent knowledge). If you feel qualified, apply regardless of years of experience!
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience is a plus
  • Proven experience managing large engineering teams and developing team members professionally
  • Experience in an innovative, fast-paced environment

Technical requirements:

  • Proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript (Node.js)
  • Proficiency in React or similar frameworks
  • Experience with CI/CD practices and modern DevOps principles
  • Experience with microservice architectures, API design, and cloud security best practices
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar) with experience in one or more of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
