Position Summary:
The Portfolio Specialist is responsible for executing portfolio management actions at the local level and supporting strategic transformation initiatives for the Established Products (EP) portfolio. This role ensures operational excellence in product lifecycle management of established products including pruning, divestment, and partnership / alliance implementation. This role acts as the operational lead, managing internal coordination and external partner engagement. This role also leads or supports analysis, business case preparation, and governance coordination to enable data-driven decisions and seamless execution of the portfolio strategy in ANZ.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Local strategy execution & Lifecycle Management
- Execute portfolio actions aligned with global and local strategic decisions (e.g., product pruning, SKU rationalization, divestments).
- Drive cross-functional implementation of lifecycle management plans to minimize disruption and optimize transition outcomes.
- Coordinate and follow up with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Demand, Finance, Medical, Regulatory) to ensure timely execution of agreed actions, supporting seamless project delivery across lifecycle initiatives.
- Lead coordination across supply chain, regulatory, market access, and trade to ensure timely and compliant execution.
- Support local transformation initiatives aligned with broader MCO priorities
- Track execution progress and ensure minimal business disruption during transitions.
2. Regulatory & Compliance Execution
- Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs and Market Access to manage deregistration and authority notifications.
- Ensure all actions are in full compliance with local regulations and internal company standards during phase-out or partner transitions.
3. Operational Coordination, Reporting, Analysis & Communication
- Coordinate cross-functional input for portfolio actions and maintain updated execution timelines.
- Support preparation of business cases by conducting performance analyses, risk assessments, and scenario evaluations.
- Maintain portfolio dashboards and track performance metrics to support monthly reporting and decision-making.
- Work with cross-functional teams to gather cost, price, volume, and market data to support profitability analysis, including discounting considerations and portfolio recommendations
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Finance, Analytics, Supply) to gather data and insights for portfolio decisions.
4. Alliance & Partner Management
- Act as the operational lead for alliance/partner execution including supply, regulatory, and trade-related coordination.
- Monitor contractual obligations (e.g., deliveries, reporting) and follow up to ensure timely execution.
- Support partner meetings, prepare briefing materials, and manage issue resolution in alignment with legal and compliance.
5. Governance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead or coordinate local portfolio governance meetings to ensure aligned decision-making and transparent communication of risks, timelines, and impacts.
- Ensure all documentation and internal systems reflect the latest portfolio decisions and status.
About you:
Experience:
- Experience in portfolio and/or alliance management within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other regulated industries – ideally in the Australian context.
- Exposure to sales, brand, pricing/access, or other commercial roles is a strong plus, particularly where it supports late-stage or mature portfolio management and local operational execution.

- Effective in cross-functional teamwork and navigating matrix organizations.
- Proactive problem-solver comfortable handling ambiguity and operational challenges.

Technical Skills:
- Strong project or program coordination skills, with the ability to manage timelines, follow up across functions, and drive execution without direct authority.
- Familiarity with the Australian pharma landscape (e.g., retail pharmacy, hospitals, wholesalers, or supply chain) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of how pharmaceutical products are distributed and made available through retail and hospital channels — including wholesalers, pricing, prescribing, and hospital tenders; experience in any part of this process is preferred.
