Within the wider South East Asia & India structure, the India Market Access function combines deep local knowledge with global strategy to address the country’s complex healthcare environment. Our purpose is to secure timely and sustainable access to new treatments by building strong partnerships with payers, policymakers, and healthcare providers, and by demonstrating the value of our therapies in ways that matter to patients and society.

Reports to: Country Lead and Pharma GM, India

About the Role

As the Head of Market Access – India, you will lead the development and execution of access, pricing, and health policy strategies for Sanofi’s portfolio in India. You will play a critical role in shaping the external environment, building trusted relationships with decision-makers, and leading a high-performing team to deliver broad and sustainable patient access.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and lead India’s market access strategy across the portfolio, aligned with regional and global direction.

  • Provide long-term vision and planning for access, reimbursement, and pricing initiatives in both private and public market.

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, Medical, Public Affairs, and Regulatory teams to maximize patient access.

  • Market Access Governance: Defines and implements local Market Access governance following global principles while ensuring appropriate local adaptations

  • Organization and resource effectiveness: Leads arbitration on resource allocation, budget management, and performance metrics at country level

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the India Market Access team to build future-ready capabilities.

  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that supports innovation and impact.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent Sanofi with national and state-level payers, HTA bodies, and policy influencers.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with payers, providers, and industry associations.

  • Contribute to shaping the healthcare policy environment through thought leadership and industry collaboration.

Market Access Amplification

  • Deep understanding of states and reimbursement institutions access pathway, access requirements and key stakeholders in both private and public market.

  • Lead Market Access strategy, pricing strategy and access programs to accelerating patient access to Sanofi innovation products in both private and public market.

  • Launch Planning: Orchestrates market access launch sequencing and implementation strategies for new launches, particular in Rare Disease, Rare Boold Disorder, & Transplant.

  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of access dossiers and HTA requirements tailored to India’s healthcare context.

  • Assess future requirements for assets in clinical development and lifecycle management. Monitor evolving policy, competitive, and funding trends to identify risks and opportunities.

Evidence & Value Communication

  • Enhance Sanofi products value proposition to health authorities and payers by leveraging health economics, outcomes research (HEOR), and real-world evidence (RWE) activities to demonstrate product value.

  • Translate clinical and economic data into clear value propositions for decision-makers.

  • Ensure compelling communication materials are developed for key stakeholders.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the India Market Access team to build future-ready capabilities.

  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that supports innovation and impact.

Risk Management & Innovation:

  • Risk Assessment: Identifies and escalates local deviations or potential risks versus global access strategies to appropriate governance bodies

  • Change Management: Implements strategic changes to adapt to evolving healthcare systems and payer requirements

  • Innovation Fostering: Drives innovative approaches to market access challenges while maintaining alignment with corporate objectives.

Experiences/Competencies Required

Education & Experience

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Health Economics, Public Health, Business, or related field.

  • 15+ years of experience in pharmaceuticals, with at least 5 years in Market Access, Pricing, or Health Policy.

  • Proven record of delivering access strategies and successful negotiations in both private and public reimbursement institutions, including MOH, CARE institutions and States.

  • Experience in new product business case and pre & post launch

  • Strong network in India’s healthcare system, payers, reimbursement key stakeholder.

  • Immunology, rare disease and rare blood disorder therapeutic area experience is plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to influence at senior levels.

  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

  • Proven leadership in managing and developing teams.

  • Commercial acumen with a focus on patient and healthcare system needs.

Languages

  • Fluency in English required.

  • Knowledge of Hindi and other regional languages is an advantage.
