About the job
The R&D Patient Engagement Country Leads are responsible for ensuring integrated patient engagement is implemented in key countries to drive the differentiation, acceleration, awareness and access of our clinical trials.
Working closely with the Health Value Translation Leads, they support the creation of the Patient Disease Strategy (PDS) by facilitating local integration of patient insights & perspectives with a focus on forward translation of insights (eg, to Global Project Teams (GPT), study teams) and back translation (eg, global insights integrated at local levels) into tangible local strategies that ultimately lead to increasing the value of the pipeline from the perspective of local stakeholders.
This position extends beyond the classical patient insights generation and clinical trial operations activities by having direct accountability for aligning the PDS at the local level?
This position is also responsible for making sure local stakeholders are aligned with the PDS and well anticipated by relevant local stakeholders, notably the engagement strategy with forward looking implications related to Policy, Regulatory Policy, Clin Ops, Payer value. Verticalization of local patient pathways and other patient relevant business insights, to feed the PDS, Clinical Development Plan (CDP), Integrated Patient Journey (IPJ) and clinical trial designs is core to ensuring the local country perspectives are embedded early and effectively.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development, and oversight, of local patient advocacy R&D collaborations at the local levels and ensuring these are connected to global strategy, across the multi-therapeutic portfolio starting at the earliest phases of R&D (dependent upon the asset for when the indication is identified)
◆ These collaborations are expected to achieve the following, at min:
Alignment with local and/ or global public affairs as it relates to the strategic intent, and plans, for each local Patient Advocacy Groups (PAG)
Be strategic in nature with transparency across local (and global, as relevant) stakeholders to maximize the engagements. For instance, patient meetings include Public Affairs (PA) and Medical Affairs (MA) to address their objectives in a given indication
Mutual benefit between Sanofi and the PAG at the indication level with positive customer experience reflected in surveys such as the Partnership Quality Survey (PQS)
Deliver on local differentiation, acceleration, awareness and access goals for each program/ indication/ clinical trial and be reflected in the PDS
Acceleration of the clinical trial and / or program can be evidenced because of the collaboration (eg, Patient Experience Data (PED) utilized to optimize study design, PED integrated into reg strategy for accelerated review, patient recruitment timelines impacted, etc). The objectives and expected outcomes of each collaboration are to be documented at the start of the engagement efforts and in the PDS
Fully leverage digital and data opportunities that exist within patient advocacy groups
Responsible, in collaboration with peers in other countries, for achieving the annually defined PQS survey results that reflect % of PAG partners rating Sanofi R&D activities as Excellent
As it relates to acceleration of clincial trials, this position is responsible for establishing, aligning and integrating strategic opportunities with their Clinical Study Unit (CSU) colleagues. These acceleration opportunities are expected to have measurable impact
Accountable to work with peers in other countries and the Health Value Translation (HVT) leads to perform a patient data/ PDS gap analysis and address knowledge needs for each indication.
Expertly leverage digital opportunities to achieve efficiencies in job function and accelerate deliverables
Accountable for ensuring the Target Value Proposition (TVP)/ Target Product Profile (TPP)/ integrated Evidence Generation Plan (iEGP) reflect local patient priorities
Translation of local insights to ensure patient preference is clearly identified in endpoint and outcomes measurement selection
Act as the main point of contact to the HVT and Clinical Outcome Assessment (COA) teams to define meaningful patient insights from the respective country, to increase the value of the asset as reflected in the PDS (TVP/TPP/TPL/iEGP)
Responsible for creating the local IPJ for each indication
Responsible for the identication, and integration, of local RWE data opportunities into the PDS
Accountable for identifying clinical trial innovation with a strong focus on patient centric digital strategies and working cross functionally for integration/ adoption, as relevant.
◆ The R&D Patient Engagement Country Lead is also expected to:
Assume leadership opportunities to evolve the role and overall, Integrated Patient Engagement (IPE) objectives of Sanofi at the local and global levels
Participate in cross-functional external patient centric initiatives (PFDD, IMI, TransCelerate, PALADIN, etc) shaping the broader R&D patient centricity ecosystem
Leverage external trends/policy positions and integrate into development
Work closely with Public and Corporate Affairs, Ethics & Business Integrity to stay abreast of regional regulations and changes
Collaborate with cross functionally to develop, and deliver, internal and external webinars and publications related to Sanofi’s R&D IPE achievements
Assist with the project management of innovation concepts being piloted
About you
Qualifications:
Relevant education, or experience, in patient focused drug development with clinical operations as a bonus. Min 5 years’ experience working in patient centricity, public affairs, or advocacy organization is preferable
Demonstrated expertise in: Team leadership that promotes collaboration, proactive portfolio planning, effective team communication, critical thinking & problem solving, team training, multi-tasking and change management
Proficiency in Office tools and public speaking, high affinity for AI solutions
The ability to implement innovations which may require significant stakeholder influence and management is essential for all individuals in this role
Must be able to accommodate flexible working hours outside of the traditional 9-5 day.
Good knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, patient advocacy and healthcare systems within local region
