About the Job

The Field Medical Associate Director (FMAD) is a senior-level position within Sanofi's Field Based Medical organization with an expert understanding, in both science and business, with existing relationships with priority key opinion leaders and key decision makers within top regional health care systems located within their assigned territory. The FMAD develops strategic engagement plans that transform medical practice and shape the healthcare ecosystem using a data-driven, AI-enabled approach to deliver personalized scientific engagement to Healthcare Organizations, Healthcare Providers, and Clinical Researchers. FMADs support our products and disease states throughout the product life cycle, maximizing the impact of our innovative medicines to improve patient lives.

In addition to external engagements, the FMAD serves as a strategic medical leader supporting their TA field medical team through leadership and execution of projects such as insight analysis and dissemination, digital innovations, congress organization, medical materials, advisory boards, and medical planning activities.

The FMAD role is 100% field facing whose main objectives are to:

  • Make decisions and build engagement plans with a combined business and scientific mindset

  • Collaborate with field partners to co-create cross-portfolio engagement plans that drive internal collaboration to generate field insights, share knowledge and expertise that inform strategic decision-making

  • Be the trusted scientific partner to external experts, decision-makers, and organizations through timely scientific engagement with an aim to enhance the understanding of the scientific and medical value of our products and pipeline

  • Conduct quality scientific presentations to educate healthcare providers on disease state and treatment landscape. Communicate in an accurate, fair and balanced manner, the benefits, risks, appropriate use and clinical value of our products

  • Inform country medical priorities by incorporating regional medical strategic opportunities aligned with business priorities

  • Gather, collate and disseminate clinical insights that deepen our understanding of the needs of patients, healthcare providers, and the healthcare ecosystem with relevant internal partners

  • Engage with clinical investigators to support Sanofi’s pipeline and investigator sponsored studies (within compliance standards) within territory

  • Respond to unsolicited request for medical information associated with supported products and disease state area

  • Support field medical innovation and field excellence initiatives to differentiate Sanofi's medical offerings

  • Demonstrate leadership and voice of field medical on various projects that support field engagements

Key accountabilities: the most important responsibilities of the job. For each key responsibility the action to be taken, the result to be achieved, and how it will be achieved. Included is the % of time spent on each responsibility.

External Engagement: Through scientific engagement and exchange, MSLs build and develop enduring peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals and organizations.

  • Use data-driven decision making by using CRM data, insights, and reports to drive timely scientific engagement to enhance the understanding of the scientific and medical value of our products and pipeline

  • Demonstrate expertise using Scientific Engagement Model (SEM)

  • Shape healthcare landscape through appropriate engagement with key decision makers and external experts to prepare for upcoming first in class/best in class launches

  • Conduct quality scientific presentations to educate healthcare providers on disease state and treatment landscape. Communicate in an accurate, fair and balanced manner, the benefits, risks, appropriate use and clinical value of our products

  • Organize engagements with scientific experts at medical conferences

  • Gather and share clinical insights that deepen our understanding of the needs of patients, healthcare providers, and the healthcare ecosystem

  • Engage with clinical investigators to support Sanofi’s pipeline and investigator sponsored studies (within compliance standards)

  • Respond to unsolicited request for medical information associated with Sanofi products and disease states

  • Operate independently to navigate the complex local health care environments at national, regional and local level

Internal Collaboration: Collaborate closely and compliantly with cross-functional teams (e.g., Commercial/Marketing, Market Access, Medical Value & Outcomes, Office Based Medical) on internal projects

  • Lead internal project teams as assigned appropriately prioritizing external activities

  • Adapt/create materials to be used by field medical, including MMRC review

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of field medical strategies in country medical plan

  • Support Medical Directors on medical advisory boards

  • Gather, collate and disseminate Field Medical clinical insights with relevant internal partners

  • Support field medical innovation and field excellence initiatives

  • Collaborate with internal team on scientific congress activities including field medical activities

  • Contribute to internal team meetings

Administrative work:

  • Document field interactions and insights in CRM with 2 business days

  • Monitor progress towards individual and team goals on monthly basis

  • Document Knowledge surveys in CRM following each interaction with MyFocus KOLs and High Burden HCPs

  • Create and maintain medical account plans in appropriate tool

  • Complete all company assigned trainings and certifications

  • Stay updated on emerging scientific and technological advances and regulatory requirements to inform strategic decision-making

  • Develop and maintain Scientific Engagement skills

  • Create, execute and update individual development plan

About You

Qualifications:

Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD), or other relevant life sciences degree (RN/NP/MS) with Healthcare Specialty required.

Experience

  • More than 5 years of experience in medical affairs.

  • 5+ years in relevant clinical or research practice.

  • Minimum of 3 years MSL experience.

  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills, and team player behavior.

  • Comfort and experience presenting before groups.

  • Demonstrated pharmaceutical industry knowledge.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Embodies deep therapeutic competency - stays abreast in the profession and ability to translate therapeutic insights.

  • Maintains highest level of proficiency in digital tools and a proactive platform across the MSL function.

  • Proven ability to consistently meet project deadlines while maintaining field responsibilities.

  • Hematology background/experience desired with the ability to interpret and convert data into relevant, enduring materials for the MSL team.

  • Strategic and collaborative mindset that supports relevant inclusion of Global/Franchise priorities.

  • Budget management experience and the ability to track and manage vendor support.

  • Has completed Veeva Vault PromoMats training and certification, has managed Product Team material submissions, and has gained an understanding of the submission process and negotiation of resource approval by MMRC.

  • Demonstrate high level of strategic thinking related to stakeholder mapping and engagement planning.

The salary range for this position is:

$172,500.00 - $249,166.66
