About the job

The Head of A2R & Tax compliance will have the overall accountability of the end-to-end A2R operations to lead and deliver the best-in-class service. They will partner with the CFO as well as relevant Finance Business Partners to ensure sustainable processes in GSA (Germany, Switzerland and Austria) as per Core Model guidelines.

This role is located in Frankfurt (Germany) Sanofi offices and is part of the A2R organization within the Global Finance Services (GFS) organization.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Service:

  • Ensure accurate financial statements for all legal entities; oversee S2P, O2C, and ConOps accounts

  • Deliver compliant, high-quality end-to-end A2R service; achieve KPIs and drive continuous improvement

  • Submit all legal entity reports for public financial information release

  • Manage accounting impact of M&A projects (acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings) including inventory activities, asset transfers, and financial implications; support due diligence and integration

  • Lead periodic Balance Sheet and P&L reviews per IFRS, IAS, local standards, and SAGA

  • Collaborate with Global Process Managers on A2R projects and standardization

  • Apply best practices from GFS and external organizations

  • Support process documentation and knowledge retention

  • Ensure Compliance, Internal Control/SOX standards, and local regulation adherence across GSA

  • Coordinate external audits from fee negotiation to completion; respond to Corporate and Auditor inquiries

  • Partner with CFO on strategic transactions, providing technical accounting evaluation

  • Partner with HUBs (Budapest, Hyderabad) on IFRS/IAS/SAGA activities

  • Foster collaboration across A2R teams and stakeholders within/outside GFS

  • Manage HUB transitions and post-stabilization; ensure quality and continuous improvement

  • Lead Legal Entity restructuring projects end-to-end

  • Lead Accounts Committee preparation and formalization

  • Support ESG and sustainability reporting per local/EU regulations

Tax Activities:

  • Ensure timely, accurate quarterly tax reporting (IFRS) to Sanofi group

  • Ensure compliance with emerging tax regulations (BEPS, CbCR, directives)

  • Manage/coordinate statutory accounts preparation, external audit, and tax figures for corporation tax returns

  • Ensure timely, accurate Tax Returns to authorities

  • Review SOX controls for tax and transfer pricing; communicate with Local/Geographical Tax Manager

  • Review current and deferred tax balance true-ups post-CIT return submission

  • Validate tax payments on account for GSA

  • Liaise with Central Transfer Pricing team to align GSA transfer prices with group policy

  • Oversee transfer pricing adjustments (commercial, industrial, corporate services, R&D) including FY true-ups, documentation, reconciliations, and approvals

  • Lead Tax Compliance responses to tax authority inspections/audits; coordinate with local Tax Managers and external advisors

Stakeholder Management:

  • Partner with: MCO CFO, Head of Tax, Treasury, Finance Business Partners, Procurement, FP&A, Corporate Finance/Tax, Interco, IPFF, Country Lead, P&C, Legal, Sales, ITS, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Corporate Compliance, Industrial Affairs, R&D Finance

  • Build relationships with regional/local stakeholders and HUBs (Budapest, Hyderabad) for smooth communication and change management

  • Manage statutory audit coordination with external auditors

People Management:

  • Lead A2R services organization

  • Oversee 3 direct reports (1 CH, 2 DE) managing 13 team members

  • Foster talent development via IDPs, succession planning, and cross-functional mobility

About you

Experience

  • 10+ years Finance experience

  • Corporate tax, transfer pricing, and/or indirect tax experience

  • International/multicultural exposure

  • HUB/BPO model experience (transitions)

  • Managing professional tax and accounting teams

  • Track record managing large efficiency improvement programs and transformation with change management

Soft & Technical Skills

  • Leadership: Shape culture, motivate teams, drive common goals, think strategically and operationally

  • Strong delivery orientation: business cases, planning, execution, ROI measurement

  • Problem-solving and business judgment in fast-paced environment; prioritization skills (complex tax matters)

  • Executive-level communication (internal/external)

  • Strong German GAAP/HGB expertise

  • Very good IFRS knowledge (e.g., IAS 12)

  • Very good program/project management skills

  • Fluent German and English (mandatory)

  • Good tax legislation knowledge: Withholding Taxes, VAT, Local file TP

  • Excellent IT skills: Excel (vLookups, Pivot Tables), SAP, PowerBI

  • Openness to AI and digital tools

  • Ability to set ambitious goals and motivate teams

  • Independent worker, agile, proactive, positive team player, flexible

Education

  • Professional accounting qualification

  • Degree level or equivalent (preferred)

Languages

  • Fluent German language skills is a must

  • Fluent English language skills preferred

The salary range for this position is :€101.040,00 - €134.720

Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs.
