Sanofi International AG, based in Switzerland, is establishing a new transformational global commercialization center— at the cornerstone of Sanofi "Launch Powerhouse" strategy. You will be part of a new pioneering, entrepreneurial entity with real decision-making authority over global launch strategies, pricing corridors, market access, lifecycle management, manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial execution. Working alongside a diverse, cross-functional team of approximately 150 dedicated professionals co-located in Switzerland, you will drive standardized, data-driven, AI-powered launch excellence at unprecedented scale.

External Manufacturing and Supply manages CMOs worldwide for all technologies, all GBUs and all markets. EM&S is a transformative organization in all fields (CMO strategy, Planet Care, Digital & modernization) moving from 20 to > 30% of Sanofi portfolio volumes by 2030 with sales contribution ambition tripling by that date, with both organic and inorganic growth including active BD and M&A activities increasing by > 100%).
As Head of New Product Introduction Large and Small Molecules GenMed and Vaccines within External Manufacturing & Supply, you will be directly accountable for managing the organic and inorganic growth of Sanofi Specialty Care products with new launches through CMOs and strategic projects, with a team (5-10 members). Your mission will include:
- New Vaccines and GenMed product launches from R&D or Business development in CMOs
- Licensing out mature products to fund the organic growth
- and transforming the External Manufacturing SPPM organization
Main responsibilities:
Main responsibilities will be to lead strategic sourcing decisions and projects execution for EM&S, supporting Sanofi organic and inorganic growth (New Launches, strategic dual sourcing, Tech Transfers), and Licensing IN/OUT transactions ensuring full alignment with EM&S, M&S, R&D
- Lead and develop talented and diverse team
- Lead sourcing decision on “Buy-Process” related projects across GBUs, across technologies, and as early stage as possible with R&D. This includes
- Budget (CAPEX, OPEX, Resources, NPVs, etc..)
- Time to market, right first time execution
- Compliance and Planet Care
- Proactive risk assessments, mitigation plans
- Resources allocations, budget planification and adherence,
- Contract negotiations.
- Represent External Manufacturing management in Internal senior leaders decision committees regarding these projects
- Make critical decisions with efficient project management, with disciplined methodology, budget and planning adherence, Thoughtful risk taking and continuous processes optimization
- Drive decision making from EM&S up to Ex-Com on respective key decisions.
- Represent Sanofi in external forums and seek for benchmark and external innovation ideation.
Scope
- All technologies, in large and small molecules in Vaccines and GenMed
Governance & Operational Performance Management
- Lead, manage, and coordinate the overall collaboration, communication, and interactions with our strategic CMOS in the project phase pre-commercialization
- Decide on agreements, reports, activity dashboards, and relevant KPIs and use these to ensure programs are executed at speed and right first time
- Continuously drive improvements in performance and modernization of the projects in all relevant areas
- Ensure projects are executed is in line with the relevant budgets, the contractual agreements and that these agreements are kept up to date
Transversal Collaboration
- Facilitate and build collaborative business relationships across the Specialty Care division and all supportive functions internally and across the CMO organizations
- Build and maintain strong interfaces and collaborations with other departments like R&D, legal, procurement, regulatory, business development, licensing and alliances and partnerships
People Development
- Manage and develop direct reports Team 5-10 and provide the right direction and guidance regarding their Project management and partnership activities.
- Ensure talent density with a diverse team skilled in technical small and large molecules
- Support & drive innovation break-through and AI driven modernization into the above mentioned project categories
Contract & Relationship Management
- Ensure compliance with master service agreements and specific contracts in place
- Ensure that terms and conditions of master service agreements and specific contracts, including the Quality Technical agreement (QTA), are met by all parties in the contract
- Monitor the contract set-up and proactively co-manage negotiation phases with global procurement and the involved operational teams in the set-up of a contract or a request for quotation (RFP) related to a strategic and Partners CMOs
- Own the relationship management with the CMOs in the project phase (pre-commercial).
- Escalate issues when required and formulate plus implement proposals for issue resolution
Risk Management
- Partner with all relevant functions, global procurement and strategic supply and sourcing leads to ensure that risk assessment and risk mitigation strategies are in place and acted on with regards to CMOs and key activities under the scope of the concerned collaboration.
- Own the risk mitigation plans and seek efficiencies and innovation for the suppliers under your responsibility
Main responsibilities and achievements to drive from team members:
New Product Launches & Tech Transfer Management
Strategic Leadership: Lead cross-functional project management with CMOs, coordinating EM&S teams and business partners
Project Oversight: Define planning, track progress, manage budgets, and implement risk mitigation strategies
Commercial Negotiation: Collaborate on key commercial terms with Procurement
Decision Making: Establish efficient governance, anticipate decisions, and propose scenarios using DAI framework
Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with global launch teams, R&D, supply chain, and country teams
Business Development (Licensing IN)
Due Diligence: Assess manufacturing and supply risks for CMO activities
Strategic Input: Contribute to business cases and commercial negotiations
Risk Management: Provide recommendations on mitigations, sourcing, and integration
Transition Leadership: Manage transition to EM&S operations post-signing
Portfolio Divestment (Licensing OUT)
Due Diligence Coordination: Orchestrate internal assessments with EM&S teams (Supply/Quality/Operations) and business partners (Legal/Finance/Procurement)
Risk Management: Develop and communicate proactive risk assessments with appropriate mitigation strategies
Business Impact Analysis: Evaluate and report on business case implications of divestment decisions
Contract Strategy: Define and negotiate management approaches with new buyers
End-to-End Oversight: Coordinate all activities through Marketing Authorization Transfer and project closure
Transition Management: Lead the handover to EM&S operations from transaction closing to MAT completion
About you
Experience:
15 to 20 years of experience in the Vaccines or BioPharma industry
Experience from a highly complex, SKU intensive, multi-site Biopharmaceutical and/or Biotechnology company
Strong track record of success in both transformation and growth
Strong business acumen and the ability to negotiate strategic deals on behalf of the company - negotiation experience with CMOs is mandatory and strong appetite & understanding for Legal matters highly valued
