Main Responsibilities:

  • The role of Medical Advisor, Paediatric Vaccines, carries broad responsibility for a product portfolio that crosses franchise lines, driving public health-oriented outcomes and business success by inspiring, partnering and leading in the assigned product portfolio and related therapeutic areas.
  • As their primary focus, the role participates in and executes the medical and scientific (non-promotional) strategy for the Paediatric Vaccines portfolio in close partnership with the functional franchise leads and in alignment with the overall strategies of relevant franchises represented in the Paediatric Vaccines portfolio.
  • In addition, the role secondarily supports adult respiratory vaccines in a transversal and collaborative fashion, partnering with the Adult Vaccines Medical Team to represent a “One Respiratory” way of working.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Utilise strong business acumen, acting as a key strategic business partner to the organisation
  • Initiate and drive projects to raise standards of care and change clinical practice
  • Champion insight driven development and lifecycle management of vaccine products through strategic alignment and execution of activities related to KOL engagement and advocacy, investigator sponsored and company sponsored studies, publication planning and medical education activities
  • In partnership with the MCO Medical Lead, Paediatric Vaccines, participate in evidence and data related imperatives as well as proactively collaborate with Vaccines R&D colleagues as appropriate
    • Drive integrated evidence generation planning and execution through deep understanding of internal and external stakeholder evidence needs and robust data gaps analysis
    • Support the analysis and interpretation of real-world data, employing advanced statistical methods and epidemiological techniques in collaboration with internal and external experts
    • Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams on the use and interpretation of RWE in decision-making processes
  • In partnership with the MCO Medical Lead, Paediatric Vaccines, support work in relation to New Products and Innovation (NPI), including development and execution of NPI Medical Roadmaps, working with R&D and Clinical Development teams and operating with an innovation mindset in supporting evidence generation plans for candidates in early development
  • Apply deep therapy area expertise and product knowledge, including competitor data, in support of business needs
  • Drive strong collaborative relationships with commercial and cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Development
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with external experts and maintain a significant field-focused outlook that ensures effective engagement with external stakeholders
    • Developing field medical plans
    • Executing and monitoring against defined field medical metrics
  • Effectively and compliantly share unmet needs of HCPs and their centres with cross-functional teams to inform patient centric strategy
  • Drive collaborative relationships with above-country colleagues to ensure country involvement and strategic input into global and regional plans
  • Lead creation and implementation of Country Medical Roadmaps
  • Support the overarching infectious disease respiratory portfolio in such areas as the development of content for congresses and other educational platforms as well as field presence, ensuring a one-respiratory approach
  • Implement true scientific engagement journeys by bridging channel disconnect to drive ongoing engagement and grow collaborative opportunities and meaningful scientific exchange
  • Create industry leading digital educational and scientific content that is timely, relevant, interactive and innovative
  • Champion the patient voice when developing and implementing medical strategies
  • Exhibit effective leadership competencies such as
    • Commitment to customers and integrity, strategic leadership, driving accountability, working collaboratively and developing people and organisation
    • Strong influencing ability across networks and by coaching and mentoring members of the team

About you

Education/Experience/Certification:

  • Doctorate level education: MD or equivalent medical degree preferred, PhD or PharmD
  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in a medical or related function (including medical affairs field or office)
  • Clinical experience, knowledge of infectious diseases or similar, and vaccines experience preferred
  • Ability to rapidly assimilate new data and integrate into new therapy areas
  • Good understanding of the continuum of data generation including clinical development, real world evidence (RWE) and data gaps analysis
  • Ability to act independently with a solutions-oriented and balanced approach in ambiguous circumstances
  • Excellent communication skills, including driving challenging discussions· Good understanding of HCP communication preferences to adapt communication style and optimise use of relevant channels to suit
  • Confident in the use of omnichannel tools and ability to adapt to new channels
  • Good understanding of the impact and evolution of healthcare systems
