Our Team:

Sanofi Vaccines’ Scientific & Medical Publications team is a part of Vaccines’ Medical Operations Excellence organization. We are a team of experts in scientific publications with deep expertise in publication practices and vaccines. The purpose of the team is to ensure proper development, execution, and dissemination of Sanofi Vaccines’ scientific and medical publications in close collaboration with Research and Development organization, Global Medical Franchise teams, as well as other Vaccines’ Medical Operations organization’s teams. Global Scientific & Medical Publication lead reports to Global Medical Scientific Communications and Engagementl Head, Vaccines.

Main responsibilities:

Scientific & Medical Publications (70%)

  • Manage appropriate and balanced assignment of projects across the members of the Scientific & Medical Publications team

  • Manage publications planning and operational activities for a selected franchise/product

  • Expand company-wide communication, visibility, and training around publications

  • Ensure Publication Managers are involved in all company publication activities

  • Provide a single, company-wide vision of Sanofi Vaccines’ publication activities

  • Ensure company-wide compliance with Sanofi policy and Good Publication Practices

  • Manage direct resources and effectively collaborate with Sanofi Global BO/Hub to support Sanofi Vaccines’ publication activities (iEnvision day-to-day operational management, medical writing, editing, graphics design, submissions to journals and congresses)

Systems, processes, and projects (10%)

  • Act as representative of Vaccine Medical in X-GBU scientific and publications community to ensure the needs of Vaccine Medical are effectively represented and served at Sanofi level

  • Act as representative of Vaccine Medical within the Sanofi iEnvision team and with CMO organization to ensure the needs of Vaccine Medical are properly represented and addressed

  • Act as representative of Vaccine Medical Publications in implementation of iEnvision and other tools, systems and processes related to scientific publications

  • Act as representative of Vaccine Medical in any update of publication-related SOPs, policies, guidance documents lead at Sanofi level

  • Manage team and resources to optimize workflow

  • Accountable for accurate and timely budget management of projects within the Scientific & Medical Publications team

  • Maintain a vendor network to promote high-quality outsourcing

  • Promote effective collaboration and interaction between publication managers, content developers and insight team members

  • Participate in and influence activities of relevant professional associations such as International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP), The International Publication Planning Association (TIPPA), and the European and American Medical Writing Associations (EMWA, AMWA)

Publication Plan (15%)

  • Lead the development, regular update and implementation of Publication plan process and governance informed by integrated Evidence Generation Plan (iEGP) and being part of Global Medical Roadmap (GMR)

  • Maintain Smart Publications Handbook and ensure proper dissemination, training and implementation

Team management (5%)

  • Provide day-to-day management for the team

  • Act as a coach/mentor within the Scientific & Medical Publications team

  • Develop professional and leadership competencies of the team

  • Ensure that staff are qualified and competent, properly coached, given the opportunity to develop in the company and continually motivated to handle the demands of their jobs and achieve their objectives

  • Ensure that the team members take part in the sessions for setting up of targets, performance review, planning and development discussions in a timely and quality manner

  • Timely comply and implement the plan for correction of actions taken by employees

  • Ensure that the subordinates comply with the Global and Local policies and procedures

  • Create atmosphere of openness and trust

Experience:

  • Prior relevant experience in scientific and medical publications management

  • Up-to-date knowledge of current publication-related regulations, recommendations, best practice, technologies, formats, and guidelines

  • Prior vaccines or public health experience an advantage

  • Significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in medical affairs (global, regional, or local).

  • Proven experience of building strong working relationships internally and externally to achieve results

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and share information to contribute to the medical planning process and execute the agreed plan in line with objectives

  • Demonstrated ability as a proactive and effective team player

  • Experience working within large multinational teams with a high performing culture

  • People management experience is an advantage

  • environment including working within and among teams and influence others at all levels to move projects forward

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Public Health, or related field; advanced degree (MS, MD, PhD, PharmD) preferred.

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 3 years of medical publications experience

    Technical skills:

    • Strong working knowledge of ICMJE and good publication practice industry guidelines

    • Excellent project management skills

    The salary range for this position is:

    $178,500.00 - $257,833.33
