Al Engineering Intern (Full-Stack)
UniqueHuman
UniqueHuman Inc. | Job location: San Francisco or Remote | Flexible Duration
Founded by ex-Apple Watch team, UniqueHuman is an Al-native consumer health platform that brings agentic autonomy to your health. For people managing active chronic health conditions, UniqueHuman creates a unified health memory from fragmented health data (across wearables, apps, medical records) that interprets, and proactively manages your health - from predicting flare ups, to triaging interventions, to evaluating treatments, to facilitating care across the healthcare ecosystem..
Summary
We are looking for an Al Engineering Intern to work directly with the founding team on building the core Al systems of our consumer health platform. You will ship real features, work with LLMs, agents, and health data, and see your code reach real users. What you build here will directly reach your family and loved ones, transforming their frustrating healthcare experiences into something more intuitive, intelligent, and proactive.
Description
You've built things before: whether it's a side project, a hackathon win, an open-source contribution, or a system you shipped at a previous job or internship. You thrive in fast and high agency teams. You want to build something in this world that doesn't exist yet, something you can look back on and be proud of. You've done this before in some capacity - you've owned something end-to-end and shipped it. The product you build will set the global standard for unified health context, interpretability, and personalization in consumer healthcare.
Responsibilities
-
Build and ship Al-powered features end-to-end - from prototype to production - working across LLM agents, retrieval, and personalization systems.
-
Build and ship full-stack features independently, moving from rough prototypes to customer-ready releases quickly.
-
Work closely with the founding team to translate product vision into concrete technical execution.
-
Design and implement the core data, analytics, and measurement systems to understand user behavior, product performance, and growth signals.
Ideal Qualifications
-
Hands-on experience building with LLMs, agents, or applied Al systems - whether in production, personal projects, or research. Familiarity with retrieval, tool use, memory, and personalization is a plus.
-
Strong consumer product sense: product-minded engineer who deeply understands user experience, feedback loops, and real-world usage.
-
Strong systems design and architectural judgment, with the ability to reason about tradeoffs across scalability, reliability, speed, and cost.
-
Full-stack fluency: comfortable working across backend, frontend, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure as needed to ship end-to-end features.
-
Experience developing consumer software applications, especially ones that are data heavy, and specialize in personalization.
-
Clear communicator and collaborator, able to work closely with founders, explain technical decisions, and influence without hierarchy.
Pay & benefits
-
Competitive stipend designed to let you focus fully on the work, not worry about making ends meet.
-
Strong performers will be considered for a full-time offer on the founding team, with eligibility for meaningful equity and long-term ownership.
-
Flexible work set up, with a choice of being fully remote / hybrid/in-person (San Francisco), optimized for deep work and velocity.
-
Food and travel benefits via Doordash and Uber credits.
