The Team

Upstart is establishing a centralized Affidavit Support function, which will be a sub team within the Recovery Operations department. Affidavit Support Specialists will prepare, review, notarize, and otherwise process affidavits in accordance with contractual obligations and state regulations. This role requires the individual to have high attention to detail, keen judgment when analyzing and reviewing documents, and a strong analytical/strategic mindset. These roles will report to the Associate Operations Manager, Affidavit Support.

Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Columbus, Ohio.

Time Zone Requirements - This team operates on the East/West Coast time zones.

Travel Requirements - This is an onsite position, Monday-Friday, based in our Columbus, Ohio office.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Analyze requests for affidavits from third parties, prepare affidavits, ensure accuracy of information contained in systems and affidavits, and ultimately submit affidavits in accordance with procedures, contractual obligations, and state regulations.
  • Review work product generated by peers for completeness and accuracy.
  • Notarize affidavits and related documents.
  • Ensure the accuracy of information in Upstart systems and records.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum qualifications:
    • 1 year experience in an Operations role at a Financial Institution, Debt Buying corporation, or Legal Collections Law Firm.
    • 1 year experience conducting research and/or investigations at a Financial Institution.
    • Demonstrated ability to interpret requests, conduct research, and prepare findings.
    • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
    • Keen attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • The ability to obtain and exercise an Ohio notary license. Applicants must secure the necessary Ohio Notary Commission within 60 days of commencing employment. Two attempts will be provided for passing the licensure examination.
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience.
    • Experience working cross functionally in a large, complex environment.
    • Prior experience supporting a legal function/department.
    • 2 or more years of investigative experience in the areas of disputes, complaints, and/or fraud.

This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week, or over 8 in a work day if required by state law.

$51,500$51,500 USD
